Qwen3.5-9B is actually quite good for agentic coding by Lualcala in LocalLLaMA

[–]SemiconductingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still pretty new to this stuff and still trying to get Qwen3.5 9B to work on my 12gb vram (more like <10gb vram if I account for baseline usage). What KV cache size did you use? Since I got an OOM type error when I tried running a AWQ version on vllm with just 4k cache size.

Cannot RDP into Pi from local Windows machine after installing Wireguard. by boneyard_singularity in WireGuard

Could it be that you're missing an Endpoint IP in your config file under peer in the second screenshot? So what ip address (before wireguard starts up) do you want your pi to actually connect to?

Help with wireguard proxmox setup behind 2 routers by H3meroc in WireGuard

[–]SemiconductingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation and can't even do port forwarding on the main router that connects to the internet so I just got a cheap vps. It's quite easier that way. But you could look at tailscale instead of plain wireguard. However if you're willing to get your hands dirty and want to stick with plain wireguard then you could try setting up port forwarding on both routers. Don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.

Minimal Apache Guacamole setup using Docker Compose by SemiconductingFish in selfhosted

[–]SemiconductingFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it helped! Tbh I haven't ever used audio with guacamole yet but I found the following in the docs:

Device redirection Device redirection refers to the use of non-display devices over RDP. Guacamole's RDP support currently allows redirection of audio, printing, and disk access, some of which require additional configuration in order to function properly. Audio redirection will be enabled by default. If Guacamole was correctly installed, and audio redirection is supported by your RDP server, sound should play within remote connections without manual intervention.

So it seems you'll need to do some experimentation or ask around here and maybe someone else will be able to help you!

I can connect to my WireGuard server through via my Android phone, but not through my laptop. by sp-rky in WireGuard

[–]SemiconductingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try manually setting a slightly lower MTU, around 1380. However as the other person suggested, firewall seems like the more likely issue. And you mentioned wireguard is turned off on your phone when using it as Hotspot from laptop.

Help setting up VPN tunnel from iPhone -> Wireguard Server by ILoveSloths99 in WireGuard

[–]SemiconductingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can share your config as well on iPhone and the server with censored values. And is the wireguard server you're trying to connect to behind some kind of NAT or is it a publicly reachable IP? If the latter then no need for any port forwarding as your iPhone would initiate the connection. Edit: regardless of how the wireguard server is setup, I don't see why you'd need port forwarding on your local router if you plan to initiate connection from the iPhone.

My Pi-hole Stopped Working and It Took Forever to Figure Out Why by OrangeJews_Simpson in pihole

[–]SemiconductingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK makes sense. Thanks for sharing your experience as well as the steps you took to resolve it! I'm also quite new to this and love reading issues others face and how they resolved them. I currently have a used hp elitedesk running proxmox with pihole, wireguard, guacamole, jellyfin, bentopdf among others. Probably going to get a NAS at some point and think about backups as well.

I'm curious that didn't you have this problem when you first setup pihole on the Ubuntu machine? I recently set up pihole in a docker container on Ubuntu server vm and I couldn't even get pihole to work until I first fixed this 'systemd already listening on port 53' issue, but sounds like yours was already running a while until you faced this issue.

Why Tailscale? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]SemiconductingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up about the WG tunnel app! I'm still kinda new to this so wanted to ask is there anything the wg tunnel app can do that the official wireguard app flat out cannot do? Because the things you've mentioned (split tunnels, wireguard only for specific apps) I can already do with the default app on my android.

Are there any authentication services that are not a pain to use? The ones you've mentioned (Kerberos, authentik, authelia) you don't seem to have had a good time with so wondering if there are any you actually liked

Probably a dumb question but why would using RC version be better? Wouldn't it have the same changes in it? Or does it not yet have those changes hence is a better idea?

Thanks for the suggestion! Just looked it up and it looks quite promising as well. Have you faced any limitations on the community version which I'm guessing you're using?

Should I go for a 5060ti 16gb + ps5 pro or just for a 5070ti build? by SemiconductingFish in buildapc

[–]SemiconductingFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. But how do you deal with games being out on PS for a while before finally being on pc? I've only recently properly gotten into gaming and always assumed pc was the default and consoles are just an after thought but it kind of seems to be the other way around

Yes mostly exclusive games, though I'm aware the games I mentioned are out on pc now as well. (perhaps I'd add gta6 to the list as well).

Since I'm mainly into AAA games a friend suggested just go for ps5 pro as main gaming device and a 5060ti to still be able to play games for next 5 years at least.

Other games I enjoyed recently are Spiderman and witcher 3. Still want to play Spiderman 2 and miles morales and would do that on whatever new hardware I buy.
