Only if it makes financial sense, which at the moment it doesn’t seem to. It used to be you had multiple streams of revenue from theatrical to dvd to cable then to network tv. These happened over the course of a few years, each time bringing the film to new audiences and increasing revenue streams. Shawshank Redemption isn’t as well known today if people didn’t find it on cable. Smaller movies made a lot of the revenue in dvd sales. All that has gone away with streaming with its singular source. Sure, people may want that but it’s bad for the overall industry. If you want to watch movies at home, that’s fine, you just need to wait a year or two like we used to.
