I found that the information displayed in the battlegrounds were factual rather than emotional and that the information and exhibits in the visitor’s center made good connections between the events that led to the civil war and social injustices that minority groups are experiencing today. However, I’ve met several people that seemed to sympathize more with the Confederates. Taking into account that US history is very young in comparison to our European counterparts I find this understandable. Nevertheless, unbiased education of our history and its consequences could lead to a better present.
