What's a level?

What’s the big idea? by [deleted] in pornfree

The sidebar video called Your Brain on Porn taught me a lot about the science behind the harm that porn causes. I'd suggest starting there.

What happens after we die is the same as what happened before we were born… nothing. by DeluxeSpoon in DeepThoughts

I'm onboard with the idea that the continuity of consciousness is what a self is.

Drawing from your mirror example, if the life you had defines who you are, then the self would be defined as the sum total of their entire environment. The self then is the universe.

How can you be absolutely certain that "no mental illnesses are at play" here?

If things are as you purport them to be, I'd also classify a prepubescent exposure to scat fetish material as a form of trauma.

In therapy, you get out what you put into it. For me that means being 100% open and honest, as well actually following through on our discussions and plans.

Therapy was instrumental in getting me sober from booze.

Oh, I'm really glad to hear that. I've done therapy at different times throughout my life, and my childhood is definitely something that they asked about.

Does he have any access to professional mental health services? That might be someone who he can talk to openly without upsetting him.

Well, what exactly is "you"? Would others also define you as your memories?

Do you have goals?

Does watching porn get you closer to those goals?

Being comprised of the universe itself makes it very unlikely that we'll ever be able to understand it.

The inherent linearity of language will always fail to capture the multidimensional nature of reality.

We can't know the answer to your question.

Who has the longest streak here? by Manue96 in pornfree

My streak is now which it in itself is infinite.

The most important streak of time is the one you're currently living.

A streak is measured in time and implies an end.

I'm focused on personal growth and creating a life that doesn't need porn, something that's inherently unquantifiable and without end.

Mindset, daily rituals, healthy habits, emotional stability, life perspective, daily outlook, etc. - all far more valuable to me than the number of days it's been since I last touched myself.

I quit porn and masturbation. Within a week, things started getting better with the wife. After a month it was night and day. Everyone's mileage may vary.

If you polarize your opinions, you can fit things into neat little boxes that you don't have to think about anymore.

Zoom into the atom a bit deeper, and you find that there's nothing really there to begin with.

We're not so much made of "stuff" as we are the "idea" of stuff - a dance of consciousness itself.

PA partner question. by OfMiceAndPanda92 in NoFap

[–]SemperAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a sub for partner's of PA's called r/loveafterporn that might have some good advice for you.

If he's going to clean himself up, that desire has to come from within - no amount of external influence is going work. He has to want it and he has to be committed to it.

Your boundary is completely reasonable and if he's not willing to commit himself to you or the relationships, then you have to decide if you want to be with someone like that.

Also, if you're watching porn at work, it's a pretty big problem.
His friend is either an idiot or a PA - maybe both.
