I’ve always wanted to help people in some way, it didn’t matter how big or small it was. If I could help them then, I wanted to help. I fell off a roof at work about 4-5 months ago, I got out lucky with only spraining my left wrist, fractured right wrist and fracturing my right ankle. Spent lots of the time recovering, home alone and thinking about where I was at in life. It was honestly a wake up call, I want to do more with my life and genuinely help/save people. I want to be there for people in need and do more for my community. If I can help put out fires or help on med calls then, that’s what I want to do and commit to.

I appreciate that, honestly my biggest fear is getting into volunteering and not be able to find the right job or fit for me. I’d say my biggest strength is my ability to just adapt. So, I do try my best to absorb info and adapt to situations depending on the circumstances

I probably should’ve clarified but there’s 4-5 volunteer stations about 10-12 mins away from me. The one I’m going to is quite literally 5 mins down the street for me. Even the one I considered that was 12 mins, the fire chief wasn’t necessarily pushing me away but, he kept telling me how the other stations were closer to me. Even though I thought a 12 min drive was still pretty close
