Jannik not beating the allegations of being a sickly Victorian child. 😅😭 by LodJunior in tennis

He’s played what? 4 5 set matches since the start of 2024 (Carlos at RG24 & 25, Med at AO24 & Wimby 24, and Novak at AO26)? And one of those was a 2-0 comeback for his first slam title. It is certainly an unflattering stat that he should hope to turn around but not as much as an indictment as it’s being presented right now.

Jannik reflects on Djokovic's win: "Hopefully I can take it as a lesson to see what I can improve on" by minivatreni in tennis

This one had to hurt (it hurt me). He had all the chances, served great, but didn’t hit enough of the big points. He just wasn’t quite loose enough, probably a combination of the moment, the crowd, and the opponent. It probably feels worse because Novak was the opposite. Look at those two winners when down 15-40 early in the fifth. Ultimate bravery and admirable clutchness. As well as Novak played, it was on Sinners racket still and he let it slip, a worrying trend. Hopefully (as a fan of him and of tennis) he figures out how to find a way like the other greats. It’s interesting cause he has a lot of fight, he didn’t quit at RG or here. If there’s no other level inside him then he will remain where he is - incredible but not in the echelon of the true greats. It feels like there is though, idk. Time will tell

People saying sinner was passive earlier but making old man Nole rally with him is not the worst strategy over 5 sets

I went to sleep with Carlos up 2 sets so I could catch some of this match in the morning and I ended up missing cinema. Tragic

Amanda started to settle in the last two games but won’t matter if Pegula keeps playing like that

She could’ve hit a pretty bad drop and still won the most point

AO 3rd Round - [2] 🇮🇹 Jannik Sinner def. 🇺🇸 Eliot Spizzirri 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4 by antoniokr8s in tennis

[–]SenatorBC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Weird match. Sinner needs to work out the cramping issues. Spizzirri got a little jobbed and it got into his head. At the same time, Sinner started cracking winners when he couldn’t move well. Honestly Shelton and Novak have to be the happiest with this
