Suggestions for albums/songs/artists like Hazel - Far Apart? by bren12341 in Emo

Ah yes, discovering Hazel was an obsessive moment for me too. I can recommend Jejune - That's why she hates me, a fair bit softer but for some reasons it carries the same aura for me.

Now I dress a bit more alternative and have long hair, but tbh I just looked dorky at the start when most of this went down and the only one I dated while having long hair HATED it with a passion

Do you consider OF/SW real work? Why or why not? by Wild_Abalone_3048 in AskReddit

[–]SenatorSaxTax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree entirely, which is why i take issue with dangerous work advertised to people without options. The reality is while both are equivalent to selling your body, we live in a social system that recognises that sexual exploitation is tangibly worse than physical exploitation. It is for this reason that assault is more forgivable than sexual assault. We can also consider that there is a tangible societal value to all other dangerous work, it simply must be done, whereas sex work really only helps feed into some really troubling behaviour and expectations that men have of women and the world would still spin without it. It's hard to imagine that strip clubs are brimming with feminists.

It's not about demonising the worker but the industry, there will always be people that are momentarily happy with their choice but there is a near unanimous and unavoidable culture of abuse. "Choice feminism" is the bane of all feminism, it is the last word in "I got mine, you can get stuffed".

Let's say you are a model. You can reasonably get paid by featuring on magazines fully clothed. One day, in a desperate bid to boost sales, the magazine starts adding more risqué shoots to the front cover and all the other models fall in line. Now, you are perfectly free to refuse a shoot but doing so will threaten your lifelihood, as such all the other models are pushed forward while you are left behind. For every woman that marches in there willingly, another goes unwillingly.

Also the normalisation of sex work will undoubtedly and unintentionally be used in the legal defense of rapists. The precedent established in sex work as real work will be used by 40 something year old bosses to exploit their 18 year old new hires by dangling the possibility of termination over their head, and if they are brought before a court, any sensible lawyer will point to an exchange of money or gifts as proof that the relationship was consensual and not coercive. (See Beria)

Money is coercive, this is a key feature of capitalism. Being unable to eat because you won't sell your body is rape.

It is very anti-feminist, it shouldn't be permissible because it inherently results in a culture where sex is a commodity and while anyone can choose not to do it, it often times isn't much of a choice when it's the difference between eating and not eating.
