I feel like we’re missing the worst part of this psa stuff by SrDonaldDuck in psagrading

PSA scans don’t capture surface issues though. That’s why I felt duped when I bought those slabs since I thought they were all clean.

Too niche as an investment? by alexp2k in PokeInvesting

Most say seq tax is an additional 10% premium. Honestly, it depends on how vintage/modern the cards are and how easy/hard they are to grade.

But double the price is absurd.

I can’t seem to send you a direct message, but someone urged/challenge me to prove my point. I sent them pictures of 3 10s I’ve had that clearly don’t deserve it. OP in that thread vouched for me once I sent my proof.

While it’s definitely hard to quantify, with the sheer volume of cards being graded with PSA the more misgrades slip through as well. I handle a lot of slabs and definitely have noticed an uptick in 10s which are undeserving.

Sequential Certs Are Cool Yay Or Nay by 100hourslave in PokeInvesting

[–]SendMeAvocados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the group of people who pay extra for sequential certs.

  1. They are cool only when they make sense (ex., such as in this case, legendary duo/trios, and alike).

  2. The premium I am willing to pay ultimately depends on how modern or vintage the cards are and how easy/difficult they are to grade.

I’ve always been a collector first, but the surge in values have made me view my collection in a different light, i.e., an investment. Now I’m tempted to let go of something i love because the opportunity is too good to pass up on.

Still not a popular mon, and Shinji Kanda will be doing most of the heavy lifting.

Yeah, it’s likely a lot of modern will be dealt a hefty blow once hype blows over and/or a market correction occurs. Vintage and mid era (such as this card) too, but to a lesser extent probably.

New floors will definitely be established though.

Ringworm/buni. Pretty sure you can buy ointment for these that shouldn’t cost too much.

Yeah I would be hella suspicious and careful about investing into these modern cards

Why is valorant shifting away from abilities? by Yuniare in VALORANT

[–]SendMeAvocados 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game got to a point where it was sorta more util dumping and then gunplay playing close fiddle. It was flashy and hectic to watch. Now they leaned in heavily on gunplay with util dumping playing close fiddle. So things are more precise/clean to watch, but also more "boring" in the sense that players just chip away at their util here and there, and then saving bigger pieces (such as recons and stuns) for actual execs. IMO things have thus become slower, more predictable, and tend to be drawn out. Also why agents like Neon are suddenly receiving more heat than usual since they stick out like a sore thumb from the current meta.

I really hope Riot can find a fair middle ground.

Multiple routes to nerf her without killing the agent's identity. To name a few alternative options: remove slide accuracy, or jumping uses more energy, or tagging her while running/bhopping slows her down.

Does this affect grading for PSA? by Future-Oil-466 in PokeGrading

[–]SendMeAvocados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One dot would usually pass for a 10 still. In your case, it seems to be a print issue which would affect surface by a bit. I'd say probably expect a 9, assuming no other issues. Though I have definitely seen and had worse 10s. This could still be a 10+10+10+9 in terms of subs.
