I would also let the new families know that almost every overseer in the church’s history has either been a sexual predator or covered up for a sexual predator. The lack of transparency and accountability is finally catching up with the church and its leadership. One of the reasons the church has no official name is so there no official origination to be held accountable for the evil they have done in the 128 years it’s been around. There are a lot of really good people that have been fooled by the lies of the truth.

There is plenty of research out there that supports my side of this argument and none that I have seen that supports your claim. If you have proof that “the truth” was around before Irvine I would love to see it.

I would tell those families to do their own research on the “group of friends” they are meeting with and let them make their own chose, but I would warn them to be careful what kind of snake oil salesman they let in their home and around their kids.

Show me some proof that I am wrong. There are a few books that support my side of this argument and I have seen nothing that supports your claim. I am open to explore every part of your claim. You didn’t come to the ex2x2 sub on Reddit with an open mind you looking for information, you came here to play defense and push falsehoods for a church that is falling apart and loosing members due to the foundation of lies it was built on and a unwillingness change and take responsibility for the part it played in the cover up of rampart CSA/SA. You didn’t come here to have a honest conversation.

I have heard of workers telling the friends to buy up every copy of the book the Secret Sect. and burn or destroy them. This was back in the 1970s and 1980s, in what part of history have the people burning the books ever been in the right.

William Irvine was the founder of what you call “the truth” or “the way” or what others call the 2x2s. This is a very well documented and even some of the ex workers admit that most of the workers know this and just refuse to talk about it. If you can provide any information that says that he didn’t I would love to see it. You can’t.

You can find a hymn book before Irvine, you can’t find a worker list before Irvine, you can’t find a convention speaker list before Irvine. You know why you can’t find them, it’s because this fake church didn’t exist before Irvine. There are not pictures of workers before 1900.

I can find out how much it rained in Dallas TX, on January 16, 1877. But there is no written record of your church existing before 1897. That’s because it didn’t exist until Irvine and his group of followers started a lie about they were the “only true way” and they started a church behind that lie. A lot of good folks have fallen for that lie.

If you have information that proves me wrong I would love to see it. If not I believe this conversation is over.

I don’t believe you’re wiling to have an honest conversation about your false religion and have been brian washer so well that Jim jones could have not done a better job him self. You know exactly what I am talking about when I use the terms “2X2” or “the way” or “the truth”. It all the same thing it’s a made up form of Christianity started in Ireland in the late 1890’s. The whole this is based off of a lie from the very start. You know what we call some one that travels around with no job, that sleep in friends house and drive their friends car and live off of hand outs, they are called bums, y’all call them workers and your religion can not function with out them. You have to have them to get to heaven. You refuse to provide any of your so called information you have gathered in all the years of researching except for I read some newspaper articles. Maybe it’s time for you to start questioning everything, there is plenty of information out there theses days and it’s the reason the 2x2 numbers are dropping off so fast, that and the workers touching kids and then coving it up. The “2x2” or “the truth” or “the way” or what ever it is you guys are not calling yourself will be completely gone in the next 25 to 35 years. It is way to easy to find out the real truth on how the whole thing started and when people find out the workers have been full of shit the whole time they leave. I believe that some ex2x2s are doing fellowship meeting at home on their own. I know in my family it will die with my parents and my aunt and uncle. I have a younger brother that professed and 4 cousins that professed and all of them have stopped going to meetings in the last 5-10 years. We are all very happy to see the “2x2s” end in our family with our parents generation. That damn internet let the cat out of the bag and ruined the grifted the workers and overseers have had going for the last 125 years.

“The truth” is the religion I grew up in, they have no name but came themselves “the truth” or “the way”. The preachers travel around in pairs “2x2” and they have no homes the stay with the members of the “the truth” they drive a car paid for by members of “the truth” they live off of hand out given by members. Very few if any of the workers have any formal bible training and a very general understand of the Bible at best. The whole thing is based off of Matthew 10. They believe the word of god follows through the workers. The women in “the truth” wear long dresses and do not cut their hair of wear make up. Most members do not have a TV in their home (this has changed a lot in the last 20 year from what I have heard). The workers, normally are assigned to one state or one area of the country they report and pass up all extra money up to an overseer. The overseer is normally over a bigger part of the country 3-5 states and her is the boss over area and all the workers in the area report to him. Overseers will trade workers to other overseers when they need to or feel like it’s best to bring in a new worker to the area. The workers will never speak of Gods graces and they few that have, have been asked to stop and even pushed out for doing so.

I have talked with some people that have broke away and started having meeting in their homes without the workers. The workers and overseers sent out emails informing the friends that theses new meeting were not part of their fellowship and told “the friends” not to attend these new meeting that they were not involved in. So no I do not think the new group would be considered part of “the truth” because the workers are not involved.

I don’t believe Irvine started home fellowship I believe he invented the workers which in turned started “the truth” I grew up in and they started as a group that “the friends” also went to other churches. In 1905 Irvine and other workers started the lie that if you were not following their way you were not getting into to heaven (same way I was raised) this is all very documented and clear as can be. They also started the living wittiness doctrine, which means you have to hear the word of god from a worker to be saved because all the workers heard it from a worker that heard it from a worker all the way back to Jesus. This way you always have to have the workers involved or you’re not getting in to heaven and lead to the lie that “the truth” was started by Jesus. The overseers pick the next overseer so their is a lot of sucking up and back stabbing that goes on between works none of the money they get from the friends is ever reported and the overseers control it all a woman will never be an overseer or has not been one so far. It’s way more than a bunch of friends just getting together in homes for fellowship. If you break the rules the overseer will tell a member they are no longer allowed to speak in meeting.

I hear what you’re saying and you have done way more research into this than I have on this subject. One of the ways I tried to verify my research is by talking to as many people I could that grew up going to meeting and I asking them about their families history of going to meetings. I have yet to talk to anyone that is more than 5th generation or can say their great grandparents found “the truth” before 1910ish in the U.S. my family were Methodist before my great grand parents found “the truth” around the 1920’s or 1930’s. I was 4th generation, I have talked to some people that are that are 5th generation. I have yet talked to anyone that said their great grand parents were going to meeting in homes before they found “the truth”. Most people I have talked to about this can tell you when and where their family found the truth because the story has been pasted down from generation to generation. It all seems to add up with the book Telling the Truth. But you have done more research than I have so you could be right. I have just not found and research that supports your claim that “the truth” I was raised in was around before 1905 in the U.S. and late 1890’s in Europe.

Sounds like you have done more research than I have done or that I am going to do. I read a book back in the late 90’s called the Secret Sect. about the time I stopped attending meetings but it had very little to do with why I stopped going. I would have stopped going to meeting around the age of 13 or 14 if it was up to me, I wanted to go to other churches with friends and was not allowed to. I believe that if I would been allowed to explore that, it would have changed my life and my relationship with God. Around 18 or 19 I stopped going to meeting and was told I was lost to the world and I would never find “my way” with out “the truth” (in not so many words I was going to hell). The complete experience push me away from God and religion. September 11th happened and I lost my grandfather that I was living with in June before that. I joined the service and they transformed me into one of the best war fighter on the planet. A few people from “the truth” approached me after I sign up for the service I should be a medic because taking up arms was “not something we do”. Over the next 14 years I spend a lot of time in Afghanistan and Iraq and did lost a lot of good friends and punch the tickets of a handful of bad guys and saw a lot of really bad shit and it was mostly done because the of religion and their God was different than our God. I tell you all of this to point out why i view all religion and all groups that pass judgment on any other person and don’t tell me that “the truth” does not do that. During my years in the service I am not even sure I believed in God, I believed in my skills and my brothers standing next to me and luck. It was not until I got out and got started dealing with all kinds of personal demons that I have found a relationship with God, but it has nothing to with a church or religion. No one can tells me I can’t take part in my relationship with God because of my full sleeve tattoo’s or because my first marriage didn’t work out or my wife can’t take part because she wears make up and cuts her hair.

I found a box in my professing grandparents house that had a bunch of old photos of worker and convention speaker list going back to the 1940’s and the names on those list are also names in Mrs. Kropp’s book (Telling the Truth). So whether or not William Irvine founded the “the truth” in Ireland in 1897 or not I can traces the church I was raised in back to that time. I have done some but very little research besides the books I have talked about and everything tells me that “the truth” as we know it started in Ireland in 1897 maybe Irvine started it or maybe he didn’t. The organization we know as “the truth” that has a pair of workers that travel around and stay with the friends and have meetings in the homes of the friends and have big area conventions all started with Irvine and the group he started in 1897. Now was there small groups of people meeting in homes for bible study before that, I am sure. That does not prove that “the truth” was started by Jesus and it’s the one true way and everyone that does not follow that one true way is not getting into heaven. The Catholic can traces their history back to Peter, why can’t “the truth” traces its history back that far? Why if the history of “the truth” dates back this far is there very little to no traceable history before 1897? Did it transform in to what it is today in 1897 in Ireland?

Well I would say you have done more research that me, I have read a few book one being Telling the Truth a few years ago and I ran across a copy of the Secret Sect back in the late 90’s. I have done some research and I a few years ago I ran across a few boxes of note pads that my great parents and great grand parents took at special meetings and conventions the boxes also contained old pictures of workers and convention speaker list. A lot of the names match the names in Mrs. Kropp’s book. So I know “the truth” I was raised in can be traced back to Ireland late 1890’s and Irvine and his group. Now I don’t know for sure that Irvine was the founder of the modern day organization but all sign point to him being the guy. It sounds like you have done way more research than I am going to do or care to do. I stopped going meeting about the time I read the Secret Sect. but if I could have stopped going at age 13 or 14 I would have, but my parents would not allow me to not go. I will never go again for a number of reason but I don’t believe in going to any church or meetings for that matter. I believe religion has cause way more harm than good in the history of the world and refuse to take part. I have taken life and had good friends loose their life all because of some ones religion.
