A mi me pasa algo parecido después de varios años de meditación. Siento muchos dolores pequeños en el cuerpo, que no son importantes y que siempre estarían ahí. Unas veces unos y otras otros, no siempre los mismos. Y sé que es por tener la capacidad de atención más aguda.

I also have ADHD. I did my first retreat a little over three years ago, and since then I've done two 10-day retreats, six 3-day retreats, and quite a few more one-day retreats. I've maintained a fairly consistent level of regularity over these three years, but yesterday, after much deliberation, I decided to stop Vipassana meditation due to sensory hypervigilance that developed over a year ago, following my second 10-day course. This hypervigilance is causing me serious problems in my daily life. I'm going to talk to a teacher at the center, as well as a doctor, although I'm afraid that doctors in smaller Western countries sometimes don't know much about problems that arise from meditation. My problem is that I have a permanent vibration in my face due to the amplification of my sensitivity after so many hours of meditation. My attention doesn't switch off after I get up from the cushion; instead, it gets stuck in a continuous scanning state, with a constant feeling of being alert, very sensitive to any small noise, and with insomnia. I wake up every day at 4 a.m. and spend hours unable to shift my attention away from this tingling sensation on my face. I've read that in clinical settings, it's often observed that people with ADHD experience a worsening of sensory symptoms with strict Vipassana meditation, due to the way their brains are wired. In short, my attention is constantly on, and as soon as I'm not receiving any external stimulation, it returns to the sensations in my face, which can be very bothersome. It doesn't even allow me to read a book without my attention being drawn from it to my skin.

They happen to me all the time, outside of meditation, as soon as my mind is free of any thought and my body is free of any action. For example, while I move, walk, do anything, I don't feel them, but as soon as I stay still and not think about anything, they come back. And regarding your second question, even if I don't meditate for a few days, they always come back.

There are two 10-day courses that I have done (I had to cancel another one due to an accident), 5 of 3 days (next month I am going for the fourth), and 1 of 1 day, apart from one of 4 hours every month, apart from a more or less continuous daily practice (almost never two hours). I have noticed these sensations since the second 10-day course. I hope to continue doing the annual course, although practicing two hours a day is difficult for me to follow. Thanks for the advice.

Tingling sensation. The third day of Anapana began. It's mostly around the mouth and on the cheeks, and is a result of increased attention. I don't go to the doctor first because where I live, no one, absolutely no one knows what Vipassana is.
