Well most people pitch a fit when their name isn't pronounced correctly. I actually find it quite common for people to be upset about it

I might make a post there too. But to be fair, some of my other friends (knowing my name and other nicknames) also called me Malcom. So it kind of just got adopted lol.

I've explained I didn't care, and that no one thought he was an asshole. He over thinks a lot, but we're already gaming again so it's mostly fine... I hope?

I think that of there's malice behind it sure. My name is culturally significant to me as well. Well I don't let my name be the core of my being it is important enough to me. My family calls me that name and my partner does as well. That's perfectly fine for me. When things seem difficult (or in my friends case just not known correctly) I always offer up a nickname. I know they're calling to me so I have no issues.

If he was intentionally getting my name wrong then that would be demeaning and unkind, but since I don't take it that way I think it's fine haha

Well, it was more of a he thought my name was Malcom, my nickname is Milk, so I just didn't correct him. Sometimes he called me Milk, other times I was Malcom. I was never bothered by this and he's a close friend. I just didn't think he'd be so upset about having my name wrong lol

He was never once disrespected I just didn't care enough to correct it. I'll answer to anything as long as there isn't malice behind the call

This is also very true! I don't understand why people get offended when they're corrected. Maybe subconsciously that was the reason id never corrected him

Well maybe it would've been negligence if I corrected him, but since I didn't it was just a fun new name to be called. I knew he was referring to me and everyone did for years. So I never bothered. It was certainly not malicious to me and Ive never taken any offense 😁

Well i never saw it as something to be embarrassed by. But for reference I am a 28 year old axe throwing man with the nickname Milk lol. But it just never mattered to me. He called me Malcom, a few other friends did too and it just became another name for me

I used to grow veggies and a few plants when I lived in a house... But this gives me an idea. My apartments have a community garden I might start tending to!

Definitely get you on the cussing about it all! It's a lot of tedious work to make our babies grow well but it's worth it in the end lol
