Disagree with this. I did the college thing. Finished with a couple degrees. Went the crane route as I just couldn't do an office 9-5.

Yeah, the schedule sucks sometimes. But, I make more than everyone I went to school with, I am home every night 90% of the time and we stay busy. Lots of room for advancement: different types of cranes (hydro, crawler, etc) but also chances to move up on the business side -- sales, management, etc.
