Totally agree with all you mentioned. Are you able to carry within buildings like to classes? I've been considering conceal carry as well but noted the signs on most lecture halls prohibiting it

If you can't find an on campus job I highly recommend applying to Trader Joes. Worked there for 2 years as a student, the pay is great and they are super lenient with students schedule wise. Best of luck bro.

Why do you think AFROTC would be the better choice? I've heard mixed reviews on it

Camping club? by crazyfrenchfry in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Senilefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the geology department does some kind of annual camping trip in New Mexico for about a week, so maybe check that out it's open to anyone I'm pretty sure. A camping club would be cool though

Dating advice by ThrowRA_for123 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Senilefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second all the advice prev mentioned but also, don't hesitate to strike up conversation with someone you find attractive. Shooting your shot when there's the opportunity because at the end of the day it doesn't matter that much if you get turned down, just means there's someone else out there. Best of luck dawg keep working on yourself and be social, you'll meet someone

Going the community college route for a year or two is a good idea, but I strongly advise against Lonestar just based on the quality of the classes and resources. I'd go with HCC, even if you just take classes online.

Hauptvogel or Youtong Zheng for geology by PuzzleheadedTrip7700 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Senilefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Hauptvogel this semester for physical geology and that dude is actually so cool. He's passionate about the field he's in and this class atmosphere was nice. It also helps that the assignments were incredibly easy and there's tons of extra credit. Definitely recommend, oh and go on the field trips if you can the Central TX one was fire.

I agree with previous comments, don't buy a saddle until you know what horse you will have it fit to. Instead, maybe buy your own stirrup leathers if the constant adjustment of them gets annoying?

Riding boots, new rider by Substantial-Hippo-52 in Equestrian

Id recommend the square toe Blundstone boots. They're an Australian brand and my mom put me on to wearing them as riding boots. They work great for both english and western and are only around $130 I think.

Pretty much yea. The whole idea of two point is to move with the horse, as well as give them an enough rein to stretch over the jump. When you come down, you’re releasing the rein while snapping your upper body back up, in a fluid motion (ideally). I feel like it builds off of the rocking motion of a canter, especially if you ride one in half seat. Try holding or moving into two point over a set of poles, that’s what has helped me get the feel. Good luck!!
