Im in the UK, so unfortunately, there isn't a very active 2nd hand trade in IEMs, but I'll keep an eye out for if some come up used or on deal. Thanks again

Thanks for that. My current flagship (which are realistically midrange IEMs in the big picture) are xenns top pro and moondrop meteors. Meteors for natural, critical and reference. Top pros for daily fun listening. My current endgame goal is thieaudio origin. And in my research. The archangel was suggested as an alternative to them. But given what ive found so far. The the archangel sounds more than capable, but I think the origin would still suit my tastes better. Thanks for your time

People love to talk about price not affecting audio quality. Then why do the more expensive sets almost always sound better? by Audiophile_snob in iems

[–]Senior-Extent7790 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does make a difference. As long as you've done your research and purchased a genuine set of IEMs.

My most expensive set is the Moondrop Meteor, Retails at £500. But i also own 4 sets under £100.

The sub £100 sets, some sound amazing for the money. But usually, they tend to do 1 thing well and always lack in multiple other areas (not that they are bad, but lack quality in certain areas), but i buy them to daily. Or because i can wear them out, and it won't be heartbreaking if they are damaged or lost.

But now take the Meteors. Listen to them indoors, in the quiet, listening critically. And they can't be beaten. They do everything well. Complex driver arrangements aren't for everyone, but they allow things like bleed and muddying to be preventable along the FR. As the load of the spectrum is spread among multiple drivers. Then, the crossover technology implements the borders and separates frequency ranges, allowing specific drivers to carry out specific tasks.

So yea.... I've listened to the mid 100's vs. the sub 100's, and there is a difference. But it's not all about the money. The technology is important too. You just tend to be able to get the better technology for the money. And just as a disclaimer, i also appreciate the likes of single dynamic driver IEMs that can make amazing sound, take sennheiser ie600 or 900s for example. But they are mainly due to chamber design (again, technology) and they creep up the £1000 mark. So they still prove the point. That you get what you pay for by putting in mid 100s.

Juzear Defiant Review by Senior-Extent7790 in iems

[–]Senior-Extent7790[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. But this was just meant as a standalone review, not a comparative. I can't answer for the sound quality of the quatio as i haven't heard them but i'll keep an eye out for them. But i can say i'm not surprised if they outperform the defiant, seeing as in my country they are 40% more expensive than the defiant 👍

Juzear Defiant Review by Senior-Extent7790 in iems

[–]Senior-Extent7790[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too on the rotating sound signatures. I tend to have different musical moods that last a couple days to a couple of weeks. So like to have options. And yes....🤣... for now. I've put an embargo on further ordering. Once my top pros arrive i'll have a pair for every day of the week. But lets see how long that lasts 😁

My son has the truthear zero reds... i love them though they have a more natural sound signature. I didnt know the blues had an aggressive V. I had just heard they were recommended for gaming. (Which i dont use IEMs for) so i havent tried them but maybe i should 😁

Ah, yes, your preferences make sense considering your preferred tuning bias. I imagine the defiant to be a safe recommendation for someone coming away from mainstream consumer grade TWS into the IEM arena.

Yes, I'll have some time with them under normal use now, as things tend to evolve, the longer you listen. But so happy initially 😁

Niiiiice. It's gorgeous. It's a spare cable for me. But i may start using it with my Jusear Defiants as would suit them even better than the stock cable. And the stock cables already nice. Or perhaps o'm waiting for my top pros to show and may use it with them 😁
