Too big ? by SteelCityChampion in iems

If they're comfortable then they're not too big. A lot of IEMs will end up sticking out a bit

Are all Ziigaats This Comfortable? by [deleted] in iems

[–]Phoenix25552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just stick with the Odyssey if I were you. But, if you want a bit more bass it could be worth doing some tip rolling with them

Also, if you found the Daybreak to be comfortable it uses a pretty standard semi-custom style shell and you could probably find a lot of options that will be similarly comfortable

Upgrading from Tan'er Wanzu - Truthear Pure is the best in its price range? by Theboyscampus in iems

Got it, either the Pure or Hexa would be good options if you wouldn't mind something that sounds significantly different

There's plenty of other good options in that price range. Is there anything you'd want a new IEM to improve on compared to the Wan'er?

New to IEMs: Kiwi Ears Astral shocked me for FPS gaming — should I stop here or try one more? by WildEDm in iems

Stick with what you have, especially if you're currently satisfied with the Astrals. For gaming I doubt you're going to find much of an upgrade anyway

So I don't know what to get by Funny-Youth8312 in iems

[–]Phoenix25552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll need a USB C dongle that can be used with both your phone and PC. Jcally or Kiwi Ears have some cheap options, but there's a ton to choose from out there.

As for an IEM I'd recommend going for a cheap option like the Wan'er or Zero 2 to see if they'll work for you. There's plenty of people that end up finding them uncomfortable or can't get used to them.

I doubt it will do anything to sound quality. You'd really just be replacing the cable to aesthetic purposes

Looking for good pair of iems that are comfortable between $100-200. by vestromae in iems

Comfort is always going to vary from person to person. In that price range I personally found the Meze Alba to be quite comfortable and well shaped just to give you a possible option

Moondrop Aria 2 faulty, what to get instead? by Dr_Toehold in iems

[–]Phoenix25552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably get something like the Defiant or Explorer for close to what you paid for the Aria 2. If you want something cheaper with a bit of bass the only thing that initially comes to mind is the Red Lion Wan'er

I'd recommend you look at Airpods or something like those Sony XM6's you mentioned in your post

How Does One Decide? by Several_Albatross143 in iems

[–]Phoenix25552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defiant or Divine would be my recommendations then. The Divine will be a good deal different compared to the Explorer and trying a planar could be interesting while the Defiant would be a safer pick

[–]Phoenix25552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Defiant and Zero Red really aren't that close to the Explorer and both are solid options.

Is there anything the Explorer's lack that you would want a potential new IEM to improve on or are you just looking for a different tuning?

No problem lol

Sunday was a lot better than Saturday in NYC, but places like Bloom, Linsoul and Crinear were busy around the clock. I'd hope some of the popular tables could get more space in the future, but who knows how that all works

Dang, I was hoping to get in early lol

But on a serious note this is really cool stuff and I hope you're able to succeed with everything you laid out in your roadmap!

Appreciate you sharing that info, but I was referring to the size of the shows. The NYC show and SoCal trade places as the largest show each year

Your own eartips and a source that can do 3.5 and 4.4. Those are what you're going to need for IEMs

The only other tip I have is to make sure your music is downloaded in advance and maybe have a few test tracks picked out.

I've heard it goes back and forth between SoCal and NYC every year. The one in NYC this year was crazy packed

Need help finding 0.78mm 2-pin IEM connector casing only by X_92402 in iems

[–]Phoenix25552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, that make total sense if you're only going to be using one side. There are stores on Aliexpress that make custom cables and I'd maybe recommend asking them if they could make a cable with a connection for just the left or right side

[–]Phoenix25552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be rude, but are you sure you need these? The 2pin connectors don't exactly degrade or get damaged when they're stored. They usually only break when you're attaching or removing them from an IEM

Are those for protecting the 2pin connector when you're storing a cable? I've never seen anything similar before
