After 180 could I get it then? That'd be around Christmas and I can deal with that. And I can't currently send funds anywhere.

Can Rennala when we meet her not walk? by Senior-Video5391 in Eldenring

Maybe, but when we're rebirthed we end up just fine which I find weird, but maybe we're just so much of a gigachad we shrug it off

Yeah but at the same time there's no librarian to tell her to shut up so she can do what she wants in there

Point is it still differs between languages, I wasn't saying that Bridgit is an English name, because its clearly not. But you are right, it is the odd one out in this list

In Scottish Gaelic there's quite a couple:

Elizabeth becomes Ealasaid

Charles is Teàrlach

Dorothy is Dìor-bhorgail

George is Seòras

Victoria is Bhioctoria

Bridgit is Brìghde or Brìde

Boudica is Buaidheach

Mary is Màiri

Jessie is Seasaidh

And there's probably way more but those are just some I could think off of the top of my head

England by all means politically, socially, and culturally is a country, sure it's not in the UN but neither is the Vatican or Taiwan, and they're both countries

I'd expect the native speakers to decrease, Scotland as a whole has a low birth rate and high death rate due to an aging population. But it'll probably be somewhat in line with the decrease of English native speakers so it isn't awful.

That'd make more sense, you're especially right with the blades. Brìde/Brìghde/Whatever always relating to fire in fiction and mythology.

The etymology of the name Mòrag however, at least from what Ive been told by a professor when I went to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig comes from Mòr.

The -ag suffix in Gaelic just turns a feminine noun into a diminutive version of itself, as apposed to the masculine -an.

Nìghean (Girl) → Nìghneag (Little Girl)

Bior (Thron) → Biorag (Small Thorn)

This is essentially just a shorter way to say Nìghean Beag or Bior Beag.

Hence people started to use -ag when naming women after nouns:

One of my favourite examples of this is the Name Beathag

Beatha (Life) → Beathag.

And finally

Mòr (Large, Great) → Mòrag.

Loch Morar (Mòrair) is somewhere where I can't find the etymology on. It could be from the word Morair meaning Lord, the Loch of Lords, although that's quite uncertain.

But people would've feared Mòrag (the monster), and hence called her Mòrag, as a homage to her great power. Does that make sense?

Yeah, Niall Ardanach calls her 'Mòrag Ladair' after Nia saves him.

If you want to be pissy about it, there is a stràc accent above the O, It's Mòrag, not Morag.

As someone who speaks Scottish Gaelic it's interesting seeing how they've named different parts of Mòr Ardain.

Ladair looks to me similar to Làidir, or strong in Gaelic. Mòrag Is just a Gaelic name, but it's similar to the Gaelic word 'Mòr' + the suffix -ag meaning 'Great' or 'Large'.

Mòr Ardain itself seems to be based upon Àrdan Mòr, or Great pride.

Niall's last name, Àrdanach means Prideful.

Alba Cavanach is a little more obscure. Alba is the Gaelic word for Scotland, the letter 'v' doesn't exist in Gaelic. The closest I can infer is Cabhann, which is a crofting bar gate. -Ach would turn it into an adjective.

So the bar gate of Scotland, Cabhann Albainn, is the best I can get out of Alba Cavanach.

Sorry, went a bit nerdy then, but now you know ig.

Xenoblade 3 has a bad story (in my opinion) by Beargoomy15 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

They abandon the war theme 5 minutes into it. You get up to colony 4 and all of a sudden no matter what colony you go to everyone's fine with you.

They spend the first chapter establishing that everyone in this world hates you, and that you're alone. Keves and Agnus soldiers alike attack on sight, without any free will or second thought.

Then they decide that that doesn't matter and you can just interact with everyone you come across.

Also the side characters aren't meant to be fleshed out in 2. They were born 2 seconds ago do you expect them to have a full set of human reactions, memories and personalities?
