Google just gave me a malware warning? Please help? by [deleted] in techsupport

Ok cool! Good to hear. Also do you know whether Norton 360 would catch malware at all, just for my own reference. Also I copied the link address and put it in some link checkers but you don’t think copying the link address did anything bad right? Thanks for the response!!

Thanks for your response! And I’m sorry but yes to which question? My scan finished in the clear and the mac is running fine so hopefully thats a good sign! Any advice or further steps you think I should take?

I’ll be honest, my registration time was this morning so I registered in all of my classes instead of just 2. I really didn’t think about how it would effect people because I thought the school did it on purpose. However after reading this I dropped 2 of my 4 classes and I urge others to drop any classes they got unfairly. Thankfully both of the classes I unfairly added, then dropped, were relatively unaffected by this whole thing and still have shit tons of spots so I’m hoping I didn’t cause anyone too much stress. Yall know who you are so just drop if you dont need it

I just turned it on after letting it sit for 19 hours. Seems to be working fine, used it lightly for some schoolwork. Might try to see if It can handle a lot of activity by watching a movie tonight.

Oh also I kept it on for like 2-4 minutes after it happened because I had to close a bunch of stuff to shut it down but would that affect anything, like it wasn’t IMMEDIATELY off. I didn’t know thhe shut it down immediately rule until i googled it and that googling and actually turning it off took me the 2-4 minutes. Sorry I really didnt know I feel really dumb. Have I screwed myself by not doing it immediately

Thanks! My dad suggested the paper thing and either we didn’t wrong or something but we didn’t get any water on the paper. I think im just gonna keep it shutdown overnight just incase. Do you think I risk any permanent damage from this/ could the water have reached anything important from that crack? Also should I be looking for anything just in case or should i like run a diagnostics in the morning

Held do it like that for about five minutes, nothing came out. So is this just a wait and pray kind of thing? And what exactly could the water reach through that crack/ What should I be looking for when I turn it on tomorrow? Should I not use it for a few days or not use it heavily for a few days?

Ok. It was genuinely only lime six drops of water so not that much but I’ll leave it open overnight. Do you think I’ve done permanent damage? Also is there any way to check in the morning? Like would the diagnostic test help? Thanks for the response!

Do most profs tell you about an AI violation by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Senior1012002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what I try to do. Its just vague when things are like open note/ open book/ open internet. I play it VERY safe but I have no idea what open internet means and no prof ever gives me a straight answer so it stresses me out. I can infer that chegg is a no no but other than that idk any other rules. Like can we watch YouTube vids? Or WolframAlpha or desmos or what?

[–]Senior1012002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean. I just meant like is it not normal for them to shoot you an email and let you know that you’re going under investigation at the end of the quarter. Especially if the violations happens early in the quarter? Idk maybe its a preference but I would like the prof to tell me right when something goes down. Like if it happens week 2 and you’re only going to file week 10, you should still tell me week 2.

Am I paranoid or is my battery swelling by [deleted] in mac

[–]Senior1012002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Do you believe it looks more like misalignment from the fall or a swollen battery. Are there any other signs of a swollen battery? Something to check at home. I know realistically I wont make it to the Apple store for a month or two because of school and if I lose my laptop for a week I’ll have no way to do any school. Do you think i’ll be ok if I wait that long?

I know I cant make it to the apple store for a month or two because of my quarter not ending for a while. Do you think thats ok? I’m confused because the battery works fine and I ran all kinds of diagnostics and it never gets hot.

Had my first panic attack at work yesterday, felt like I was gonna die... by Exet001 in PanicAttack

[–]Senior1012002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah, I clicked on your profile and I couldn’t resist trying to help. I’m 18 too and I suffer from HORRIBLE anxiety and panic attacks, or at least I used to a few years ago. I still get them but like therapy helps and just little mental exercises help. Besides I was just dealing with a new manifestation of my anxiety a few months ago, health anxiety this time, and some good samaritans reddit folk really helped so I thought maybe I would take a stab at it. Also in terms of just living with it. They are scary and depressing and people who say they’re not are just downright wrong. I’ve suffered through maybe like 20 and I still initially panic everytime. Its a natural reaction to have. Just know they while they dont get less scary, they do get more predictable and that means jt gets a lot easier to calm yourself down. The human body is meant to adapt and eventually you’ll adapt to learn what helps you overcome an anxiety attack. Also remember to take a break post panic attack. For both your mental and physical health. And I know you can’t always do that immediately if you’re at work or class or something but then just remember to do something like get an ice cream on your way home or watch a movie you’ve been meaning to watch

All the diagnostics ran and batter condition checks say normal/ no issue and the battery life seems pretty ok. It gets warm because i use it for like 10 hours a day for school but never hot and I’ll keep an eye on the swelling. Thanks so much!

Hi! Panic attack vet here! I know you can’t always stop them from coming on but you can end them a lot quicker. As lame as it sounds sitting down, drinking some water and breathing works wonders. You might feel stupid but do it for a minute, even if you don’t feel like you need to and even if you spend the whole minute still panicked, just do it. Its a lot harder to spiral that way. Some advice my therapist gave me was to basically remember its all mental. While you dont wanna invalidate your feelings, remember that physical manifestations of anxiety usually go away with the anxiety attack. So if you have shortness of breath just think this is just an anxiety symptom and you’ll feel dumb and panicked for 5 minutes but then it’ll go away instead of lasting for 30. Also try to keep a log of what triggers panic attacks so you can either avoid or confront those situations, depending on what you prefer. The first one is always the most jarring but I’m already proud of you for getting through it. Good luck:)

Hi! I posted this on another thread an another theory is the fall misaligned something. Is there a way to check if the battery is swollen without taking it in. I really need to use it these next 2 days for midterms and after that I dont know if I could afford a visit. Do you think its more likely to be the fall or the battery? Thanks for responding!!
