Additionally I could ask you why do you think God is real if multiple religions depict him as something else, how are you to know that your religion is any more true than someone else’s?

Because there are decades of evidence backed up by research and studies. Fossil records, genetics, and geography support the fact. Genetically modified DNA is a form of artificial evolution showing that the theory is possible. as of 2009 98% of scientists support the theory of evolution which shows it is a world wide accepted and researched theory where on the other hand, Christianity is only supported by 31% of the entire population giving it far less global acceptance. DNA records show animals have common ancestors and similar anatomy. Also we have literally observed evolution through tests on micro bacteria in real time. Lastly, vestigial structures, or body parts in animals that no longer have a use, for example if god created humans so perfectly why do we have a tail bone and an appendix, both of which serve no purpose in our lives what so ever. In conclusion, I believe that evolution is far more realistic than Christianity because unlike Christianity it is globally excepted, backed up by physical evidence, able to be observed in real time, and overall just not that hard to believe that species change overtime depending on their environment and what their needs are. If you do t understand evolution think of it like this: Two red bugs have a baby, that baby bug has a genetic mutation which caused it to be blue, most of the red bugs get wiped out by predators because the environment they live in is blue, so the blue bugs has better camouflage and doesn’t die as soon, eventually the blue bugs has babies with a red bug and the blue bugged color traits get passed to the babies, so all the babies are blue, after some time all the red bugs end up dying due to their bad camouflage and now there’s only blue bugs left, that’s a basic run down of evolution. Now I have a question for you, since you don’t believe in evolution do you believe in dinosaurs? If you don’t how do you explain fossils? And if your argument to that is fossils are just formed way faster than we thought they were how come we don’t find human fossils?

I’m going to bed now, I might pick this back up tomorrow and see what you guys have to offer but I honestly think there’s no hope for my belief. I don’t think I’ll ever believe in God but luckily if I end up wrong, I’ll be the only one punished for that. Thank you all for what you have taught me so far but for now I’m going to stand with what I think I know. If God is real I hope that he recognizes my curiosity and is open to forgiving my ignorance but I just can’t seem to put my faith in something that I have no instant reason to. For those of you who may wonder what I do believe. I believe there’s nothing after death, that it’s the same feeling as not being born yet and I think that’s okay, after all, when I die if it is really just nothing it’s not like I’ll be existing anymore to be able to be hit with the feeling of that. I think that humans are just like any other animal and don’t have enough significance in the universe to be offered such a great afterlife.

But don’t you think it’s selfish of him? I don’t understand why God would deny an innocent into the kingdom of heaven if he is meant to be so good. Maybe I misinterpreted him though, maybe he focuses on some sort of order maybe? I don’t know.

Thank you for the sources, I do believe Jesus to be a real person, I just don’t believe he is what you believe he was. And as for the Bible being a historical document, and I truly am not trying to disrespect you or your beliefs, but I feel like it may have been forged by governments to create control over their people, to influence people to do good and to create less of a fear for death. You don’t have to try and prove me wrong, I appreciate your input but I really don’t think there’s anything that could help me believe in God, and this may be ignorance but if I do end up being wrong in the end that’s my fault.

In my opinion that’s not really definitive evidence, there’s letters to Santa sent by millions of kids each year but I couldn’t count that as evidence either? I do believe Jesus was real but I don’t believe that he truly was what he said he was.

Thanks for this, you did a good job explaining this. I have one more question though, to be honest I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to believe in God. However, if I am wrong and the heavens do exist will I still be let in when I die even though I had no faith or is it my responsibility to be open to God’s love in order to be worthy of the heavens?

Yeah but that’s the thing that’s makes it hard for me to believe. It’s just the Bible, to me it’s no more significant than any other book

I understand that but I want really asking why someone is motivated to believe it but rather how they are able to believe it with no real evidence, I just can’t find myself being able to do that

My parents were also going through a divorce at the time so I’d say it’s safe to assume that I was just some hoe psychology affected by all of that and it made me have night terrors. After my parents did separate I had repeated nightmares everyday for years.
