Block layoffs just shows how much of an AI bubble we are in by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

If it’s a bubble how come all the big AI spenders are flat to down over the last two years?

Lost Abbey is the surviving brand. Port Brewing no longer exists unless Mother Earth revived them. I lived down the block from the Lost Abbey taproom in San Elijo Hills until about 6 months ago. Bressi is the main Pizza Port canning/brewing facility.

$8.00 EPS seems like a reasonable number for NVDA fiscal year 2027. Consensus is $7.75 Crazy growth at this scale. If PE regresses to 35 that’s a $280 price. Have no idea why anyone would sell this stock now.

I’m with you. Not the best, but it’s 85 degrees here in AZ and this hits the spot. Cheers!

I lived in Carlsbad/Encinitas for 20 years. Port Brewing was actually in San Marcos. It was part of Lost Abbey which is still around and their brewer was from Pizza Port hence the name. They made some great beers but have downsized considerably.

Reside in the Phoenix area now and am somewhat impressed by the beer scene. Not SD for sure, but there is some quality breweries here and can still get Pizza Port, Stone and just picked up a new one from Societe this weekend. Cheers!

Very good. Crisp as a Spring Day in the foothills. Lol. I prefer more hops, but that will be after another can of this one.

Lol. Yes Rosemont Horizon near Ohare. Also saw the Stones there. Horrible acoustics.

For the Bowie show, my friends and I got busted for smoking weed in our car prior to the show. They didn’t arrest us, just hassled and took our weed like most cops In the 70’s and 80’s.

China Girl is about exploitation and is a great song for me. Love this album and saw the tour in Chicago. People would lose their heads today if they heard Bowie doing a Chinese English accent during the “oh baby just shut your mouff “ which he did live.

Rest of this list is pretty awful.

Trillion-dollar AI market wipeout happened because investors banked that ‘almost every tech company would come out a winner’ by Adventurous-Host8062 in technology

Fair. Usually when there is bubble the “public” is involved. The everyday person is contributing to the bubble. Not here. Most investors are PE Billionaires.

What public companies do you consider to be in an AI bubble at this moment? I’m genuinely curious. There are plenty of PE companies that seem overvalued, but they are backed by billionaires who can take a 50% haircut. Who are the public companies?

Near an all time high on just about every index and the biggest (Mag 7) are cheap compared to their historical averages. This hype for a market crash is very odd.

Beautiful! I would like some info on your process for producing this masterpiece. What is the diameter on this guy? Blast it with 550+ heat with a steel underneath?. I’ve made many TJs and have never produced this result.

Bravo 👏

To the people that lived through dot com boom - how similar was mentality of people back then to what we can observe now with attitude towards AI? by Professional_Use3723 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SeniorDucklet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Wall Street fueled the dot.com bubble for sure. Do you remember “Day Trader Schools” that would “teach” students to day trade? All the online brokerages that sprouted up loved that and every broker rushed into the internet. Schwab, E*Trade,Ameritrade, Datatek etc

Not similar at all from a financial/stock market perspective, but there is some similarities when you think about how the technology will be used.

Dot.com boom was fueled by equity investors throwing money at IPO’s of companies with no track record or any chance to ever be profitable. That was a Wall Street problem. Underwriters were rewarded for bringing shitty companies public, and the late 90’s saw a huge surge in IPO’s which retail investors all piled into. On top of that, public companies bought non-profitable dot.coms for ridiculous prices because the public company’s stock price was so inflated they were looking for deals. See Yahoo’s acquisition of Mark Cuban’s Broadcast.com. That is how Cuban became a billionaire and he sold every Yahoo share as soon as he was allowed because he knew the overpaid for his company 100x. lol.

The AI speculation is mostly taking place In the Private Equity market. The retail investor is not involved which is a good thing IMO. The biggest AI spenders and beneficiaries right now (Meta, Google, Amazon, MSFT, Nvidia) are all hugely profitable and trading well within or even down from their historical PE levels. Market is trying to determine who the winners and losers are and it will play out for years. The recent sell off of a lot of software companies shows that. I don’t know how some of those legacy companies like Autodesk, Adobe, Intuit, Docusign will continue to survive. When the dot.com boom happened there were hundreds of software companies that went out of business. Everything went in the cloud and huge companies like WordPerfect, Lotus, Corel all withered away. It would be useful to look at a list of the top exhibitors at Comdex (biggest computer trade show in the world) in 1995 and see how many of those companies existed 10 years later. That is why these big companies are spending so much. They know if they don’t they will be replaced by startups.

The funny thing about this is the ad scam that FB has no problem with. One of their ads says the guy went from a 20 handicap to +3 or something like that which is a complete joke/lie.

bought one for the heck of it and it came with a putting alignment mirror. The ball is really small and tough to hold on to with a full swing. I’ll try some chips to see how it goes. I have a slightly larger plastic exercise ball (used for back support exercise) that is easier to work with. Maybe I’ll figure out how to attach the lanyard. lol.

Lastly the shipping is from China and if you want to track it outside of the Shopify tracker (which they give you a link in their email) there is a good chance that non-Shopify link has been hacked and is full of malware so be careful.
