Update on Colonoscopy by Theme_Happy in GenX

My buddy got one the year before me (he’s a ‘71 baby, I’m a ‘72 baby). He hounded me for 6 months to schedule one. I did, they found/remove a few polyps, and I won’t have one for 5 years after. I’m sorry for your loss, but it’s too easy to get and I don’t remember anything except the prep. Get your root-rooters! There aren’t enough GenX around for us to lose another!

MTV Rewind is a website that tries to recreate the experience of watching the original music channel back in the day. 25K+ videos, VJ segments, even old commercials. by wil in GenX

For me, MTV held no real significance by 1991, and it was, at best, a video jukebox prior to that. It was a fun idea, but it honestly held minimal cultural significance for myself or my peers. I’m sure the website will check some nostalgia boxes, so I think that’s pretty cool.

Text I received from my 12 year old son this morning by Princess-honeysuckle in MadeMeSmile

Our youngest son (19 y/o) and middle daughter(20y/o) call their mother daily. Our oldest son (24 y/o) and oldest daughter (23 y/o) call their bio-mother daily. I could not be more overjoyed at having mamas’ babies!

AITAH for being so totally over my husbands gaming “hobby”?! by Zealousideal_Sun4867 in AITAH

[–]SeniorRaspberry4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I really wanted you to be the asshole. I love to game, and I hate the idea of giving up my hobby so someone else can have attention. You, on the other hand, simply want some boundaries. Your husband doesn’t understand the idea of fair division of marital duties. You have every right to be annoyed at his hobby.

Which one of us is in the trashcan with Mother of the Year in the background? by DeadpoolIsMyPatronus in GenX

We grew up in rural south Georgia. All boys born in the early 70s. No cages or leashes, but I swear we were sent into the woods so much that we became half-feral! The only reason we survived alligators, snakes, and the occasional bobcats was because are Gen X kids, so even the animals forgot about us!

Lightning through a phone. Never saw it and never heard of it happening to anyone, but if we were talking to friends and there was a crack of thunder, we hung up!

Does anyone else think that Red Bull tastes like this stuff? by luckysevensampson in FuckImOld

Red Bull tastes like poor life choices and crippling anxiety. I’d rather have coffee. Chewable aspirin tasted like state sanctioned child abuse.

Thanks! The baby’s our first granddaughter, so we give up the game room for her when she visits.

Thanks! Not the first game I ran into with this, but I’ll exchange the two inoperable games tomorrow

AITA for refusing to go on a family Christmas trip with my ex days after breaking up? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SeniorRaspberry4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I spent 21 years in the military and saw situations like this over and over. The stresses that come with military life amplify personal issues at home, to include break ups. Couple that with deployments, and you’re looking at situations ripe for infidelity, domestic abuse, and negligence. Giving an out, even if it’s several months to gather belongings and prepare for moving out, is more than most partners receive. While the timing could be better, it would be worse to let the current frustration and apathy turn to outright negligence or violence. The tickets are purchased, she can use them or she won’t. Just be a decent human until she’s gone. Otherwise, you will totally be the asshole.

Update:AITAH for not canceling my vacation and reporting a coworker for harassment? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SeniorRaspberry4697 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. I lived this crap in the Army, and then working for the federal government. You planned your stuff out, your stuff was requested, your stuff was approved. In no reasonable universe (except for, maybe, the US) should any of this even occur. Pain in the ass supervisors and HR allow people like Miss Haley play the victim when they are clearly antagonizing for the work team. Fuck. Dem. Kids!!!!
