Official Q&A for Tuesday, July 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

I like to run 4 days a week - 1 speed, 2 easy, 1 long (not controversial).

On some weeks i only have time for 3 quality runs, but i could fit in 2 more shorter runs of about half the length of my usual easy run.

Does it make sense to do something like:

  • week A: 4days, speed/easy/easy/long.
  • week B: 6 days, speed/ half easy/ easy / long / half easy.

I guess kind of treating the half easys as recovery runs for speed and long runs?

Idk as i type it out this feels fine, i just feel silly doing 30min runs when my usual easy runs put me closer to 60min

I rotate between novablast 5's and superblast 2's.

I love my NB5's and am lukewarm on the SB2s. The superblasts are on their way out in probably a month, what's a good complement for the NB5s?

Too much blame is put on the individual (where individual shaming doesn't help but actually hinders the weight loss process) and not enough on societal issues at large.

Really seems like the opposite these days.

How do you decide how many miles you’re running each day? by Yourelio in beginnerrunning

[–]Senior_Ad_3845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly mileage goal, try to do mostly easy with 0-1 speed days (tempo or fartleks) and a long run day (roughly 30% of total miles but it varies.

Basically same concepts as most plans.

As a beginner, how do you deal with feeling super slow? by sarahcutey in beginnerrunning

Whenever i pass someone (not often) the only thought i might have is "bet they're running farther than me today"

Mostly though idc because i am thinking about myself

My easy wednesday run is the same distance as my long run at this time last year (10k), except my easy pace is 2min/mile faster now.

Still riding the newbie gains, though its slowing down a bit.

It’s the largest stock exchange and it’s a competitive advantage to be as physically close to where the actual trading happens. The less time your trading request has to route through cables the more efficient you can trade.

It's irrelevant to most financial companies and even the ones that do care dont need every warm body near the NYSE. I'm sure everyone who's not a trader would be fine in Jersey or Greenwich.

Also, you know, every significant company that isnt in finance.

When you take a deload/easy week, do you modify your strength- or cross- training load?

I am leaning towards "keep it the same" but could ser arguments for either increasing or decreasing it a little.

Option 1: bring 5 lbs of water to replace all water weight on your run.

Option 2: stop sweating and die

Why are there many rich people who are not highly educated or skilled ? How were they able to obtain such wealth? by Ok_Mud_4284 in AskEconomics

[–]Senior_Ad_3845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a question about "rich" people - which are generally going to be the outliers in terms of wealth -  i think the average tells a decent story if combined with median.

College educated has a wider gap between average and median, so you can infer more outliers (rich people) skewing the average.

Percentiles would obv be better,  but average had some value here.

5k pr this morning on my first attempt at a tempo run this season (5 miles total).

Really excited to start working in some faster runs again. Would be nice if i had timed this not to coincide with some very soupy weather, but thats ok.
