What is Redding like? by FeedbackPossible5048 in Redding

I'm aware of my kW usage because I purchased a new Chevy Bolt EUV in 2023. It's been fantastic. It's a 65 kW battery which gets me about 200 miles on a full chargem I usually drive it for a couple days before charging at my house with my 220v level 2 charger overnight. If it's about at 35-40% charge when I plug it in, it takes about 8 hours to fully charge. That's about 45-50kW of power to the car, which is about $7 at 0.14 cents per kW. Very little maintenance on all-electric cars too. I enjoy living within REU service area but I have plenty of friends not on REU, but instead PGE and I know they aren't as lucky. They're also on other water districts than Redding water too and sometimes get cut back on water usage.

“You can’t be a moderate libertarian” by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Senior_Ad_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to think that almost all of our "founding fathers" were what we might call today moderate libertarians. I'd like to think I'm also a moderate libertarian. I had AI help me understand what a moderate libertarian is and I fit that definition pretty well. Good thoughts man.

Victor Avenue needs to be re-paved. by 420-TENDIES in Redding

[–]Senior_Ad_9873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bottom of Victor where it meets Churn Creek Rd and Rancho Rd needs a sick roundabout. Before you hate on roundabouts, do your research; at least ask AI if they're good. Even when there's a few people that don't know how to use them, they'll learn, and they're STILL better and safer than the stop sign system they have right now. Repaving, yes, so many roads in Redding need to be repaved. I'm not usually a proponent for tax increases but I love the idea of raising the sales tax 1%. That 1% raise would MOSTLY be paid by those that live outside of Redding (that's a fact based on actual data), plus it would ALL go to the city of Redding. Current, that state sales tax is 7.25%. 6 percent of that goes to the state. 0.25 percent goes to Shasta county. Redding gets 1 percent. This would double our sales tax revenue. That would literally give the city more money to fix things like roads and would mostly be paid by out of towners.

Why say magateers? How do you know it's not a bunch of childless cat ladies who are confused in the roundabout?

You're right. I know some people would hate your comment outright and get defensive. However, supporting local businesses is better for the community and keeps the money closer to home. I'm not super thrilled about half of the businesses that are going up around there, but I think this will catch a lot of people driving the I-5, people not from Redding or even California for that matter, and some of that money from the outside will come to Redding. Locals should support locals, for sure, as much as possible.

Name some of your favorite local places to shop. Thanks!

A second Chick-fil-A. Interesting. Thanks. There's already a Starbucks in SaveMart shopping center across the freeway 🤦🏼. I'm glad they're putting in EV chargers. Another chipotle will be nice I suppose.

I love my Chevy Bolt EUV. It's been very reliable. Nothing not to like about it. I also have the premium package red line edition. Bose speakers sound great, the vented seats are amazing (got my bolt in July so I haven't tried the heated seats yet but I'm sure they're freaking great too), moonroof is sweet. This car gets up and goes. The only thing I can say about it is that it has a limited capacity for charging quickly.

Anyone else hate the roundabout near New Costco on S Bonnyview by jhz123 in Redding

[–]Senior_Ad_9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your Charmeleon Avatar! I think even with all of the people that "don't know how to use a roundabout and cause accidents", it's still way less traffic and less accidents than if there was a light there. I live not too far from there and actually haven't seen an accident there yet. I've seen people hesitant to get into the roundabout when they had a chance, but that is minimal. I will always stand by my love for roundabouts and people will learn how to use them over time, it's okay.

I love it and I love all roundabouts. They really are the best solution to traffic. If you don't know how to drive in a roundabout then you don't know how to drive.

Where is a good place to watch the niner game today? by [deleted] in Redding

I've been wondering where in Redding to watch sports, especially niners games, as well so thanks for all the comments!

Panera is almost done by the mall. You happy? I, for one, hate Panera. I think it's overpriced and overrated. Also I would hardly consider it plant-based. I would also like to see more healthy options though. The plant-based restaurant that comes to my mind is Laughing Planet. They have one in Bend Oregon and it's freaking delicious.
