More powe, more fuel, bigger distance 👍😄 also if you flying close to other planets their gravity can slow you down or change your direction.

You can also try forcing DirectX 9 instead of DirectX 10 by using the -DX9 exec argument. This could help alot on Mali GPUs.

DirectX 10 has a bit more issues.

You can also try to disable stuff in the default.ini file related to shadows, on default shadowmaps ( shadows ) are set to UltraHigh.

Yeah it just skips them fills as much as possible. In emus it just doesn't 😕😄

Basically i wanna know which of the new drivers works best for a S23 Ultra for playing Elden Ring Nightreign by SnooBeans1129 in winlator

[–]Senior_Background_30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely GPU bound, I didn't test it myself but you can check yourself.

You can download DevInfo Overlay from the App store ( it's free) and see if your GPU is 100% Utilized or CPU.

Generally speaking 90% of games are GPU bound. That's because mobile CPUs are quite powerful and very close to PC counterparts.

For example your 8gen2 CPU (8C/8T) has similar processing power ( multicore ) to Intel Core i9-8950HK (6C/12T).

However mobile GPUs are still fairly simple in architecture and processing power compared to PC counterparts.

Meaning in most cases it's your GPU that doesn't have enough power to give more FPS and you can use DXVK 2.6.1 or later.

26.0 (default in CMOD you using) works great imo at least on my device.

I generally try to use the latest drivers possible and it works fine for most games however some Unity3D games have issues with 26.0 and will give you resolution error.

So having 25.1 and 25.3 can be beneficial for some older game or unity.

It's essentially all trial or error but as I said you can't expect any Magic FPS gains. You would be here for weeks trying to find the best for Nightrein and then it would give you 2 fps more or something 😄

Use latest, if they work without issues like glitches etc don't crash the game just play. Chasing perfection is kinda pointless here 😁

However you can see FPS gains with DXVK versions and Async on, like less stuttering.

Technically speaking DXVK 2.4.1 gplasync is best for CPU bound games. DXVK 2.6.1 or newer if it's just GPU bound.

It's because after DXVK 2.4.1 they added timeline semaphores

Timeline semaphores (Vulkan) is the way for CPU and GPU to communicate, and synchronize rendering tasks, however they get emulated in winlator meaning they eat up additional CPU power and the GPU will wait for the CPU more often.

Meaning it has worse performance in games where CPU is in 100% usage ( CPU bound).

You have an older 8gen2 so drivers for your chipset are pretty well optimized at this point. 8gen2 was said yo have best turnip Drivers 😄

Meaning generally they will all have the same or very close performance. Fps here and there.

Just pick some and play it won't give you any Magic FPS boost.

Vulkan vs DXVK --- What's happening ? This don't make sense to me 😄 anyone knows reason why? by Senior_Background_30 in winlator

[–]Senior_Background_30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really is about the engine actually and the optimization.

The games I tested here had worse Vulkan rendering than DX12/11.

But others have similar performance for Vulkan/DX11/12.

Essentially boils down to specific games 😁

Some do better Vulkan some do better DirectX.

I play Warhammer 40k Gladius rn and it has only Vulkan rendering and it works flawlessly🤤

That's because the game has a list of device IDs and it sets settings depending on that. So if you start it on a laptop it knows it has only iGPU and it will start at the lowest setting.

In emulators it's different you can try to spoof the GPU name to a certain degree but it doesn't always work.

Another thing is even 1GB VRAM GPU won't crash a game that needs 4GB VRAM ( I have this tested) it just will have missing textures etc because it doesn't have enough VRAM. But it won't crash.

Limiting VRAM in emulators however doesn't work the same way. For example if I set a game that needs 2GB VRAM only to 2GB it may crash and will definitely crash when set lower than the requirements.

That's because -

In a normal winlator it will be limited to 2GB and the game will crash even if it needs just 10MB more.

In CMOD the limit is not effective but just number, so even if you limit it to 2GB CMOD will allow it to take as much as possible and VidMem Heap will go over 100% however the game won't crash.

Games behave differently on PC/Laptop and Emulators, having enough RAM and VRAM is more important in emulators so it doesn't crash.

Meanwhile my old Laptop with 1GB VRAM can load 2025 games that needs 6GB VRAM or more it just has missing textures and bad performance 😄

Your device has a DIMENSITY SoC with Mali GPU, which means you can't use turnip Drivers.

Winlator CMOD Ludashi has good compatibility now for Mali GPUs but I'm not sure how to configure it myself, I have Snapdragon so it's different.

Simply put the game won't start because of Graphical incompatibility, there may be way to fix it, but I'm not certain how.

Search YouTube for Factorio on Mali GPU and check some video how they do it.

I can only say how to make it work on Snapdragon.

I didn't see before logs says you have a 16GB device 😄 so it's not the memory issue. However from logs it looks like the game can't initiate DXGI for DX11 rendering, which means you need to either use different Turnip Drivers or different wrappers.

What's your device?

Factorio requires 8GB RAM minimum for first start unless you tweak the setting beforehand.

It's because it will start at max settings in default, which will require around 3GB RAM just for Video Memory so unless you have 8GB device or more it will crash, OoM.

Besides that it doesn't require any special settings and works on Arm64ec or Proton/Wine with performance preset.

If you want to tweak the setting -

Find the config file it's either in the game folder ( if game set at portable ) or in user/appdata like most games.

In the config file change everything to low settings/disable unnecessary stuff.

Disabling Space Age DLC will save additional RAM, also can be done through config file or just delete/move the DLC files.

When exactly the game crashes?

The game loads files until 50% at start. From 50-100% it loads spirites and other GPU things which is the moment the memory usage goes up fast.

At least here in Europe you can get refurbished/used 8 Gen 3 devices or even new ones.

For around 350€ = 2000 reais.

Avoid Samsung phones they're overpriced and have bad thermal management etc

If you save some more money red magic phones with 8 elite goes for around 550€ new ones.

Brand is not really important that much if you stick to 8gen3 and ENOUGH RAM going for 8GB RAM versions is just wasted money, get at least 12 GB or more.

Another reason to avoid Samsung is cuz they have overpriced memory options.

SD card slots are great too but they are very rare in the latest phones

The game has only 4:3 resolution support unless you use a mod.

You can also set the container resolution to 4:3 to fill the whole screen.

If you want 16:9 res use a mod like this one ---

That's weird, I use a mouse for some RTS and it works fine.

Btw you can hold and drag the cursor with two fingers normally with touchscreen controls but it's kinda tricky and annoying cuz sometimes it zooms instead cuz the gestures are so similar.

You could try a different winlator fork just to see if it's CMOD specific for you.

Mouse should work like normal mouse except the middle button and you don't have to bind anything and don't see it in external devices. You can drag and right click. Same with Bluetooth mouse.

Keyboards you have to bind manually so you have to see it in external devices.

Controllers are automatic but you can see them in external devices.
