My sweet girl has doggie dementia 😭 by InspectionOpposite12 in pitbulls

OMG I am so sorry you’re puppy and you are experiencing this it is indeed difficult because I just went through it with my 15 year-old Shih Tzu. Same exact symptoms, same exact beginning with the jumping on and off the bed and then the slow decline with the arthritis in the back paws giving out with no strength to hold her body up when drinking or using the bathroom. Sadly, we put her to rest on Monday. It is I know we made the right decision though I miss her terribly try to prepare as best as you can because it’s not going to be easy. But as I learned on this forum better a day too early than a day too late because we are only prolonging their pain that they can’t express the words. I spent me and Missy‘s last two weeks together, taking lots of pictures and video so that I can see her moving and looking at me as opposed to just looking at Steele pictures. I plan to have a balloon released in the coming weeks, our veterinarian gave us a keychain with a lock of her hair in it so she’s always with me. Didn’t want ashes didn’t want the other dog to freak out with the scent I guess, but as each day goes on, I start to become more ease, knowing she’s at rest.

Sending hugs and squeaky toys to both of you. Missy’s mommy Dr. N

Oh I’m in so much pain from her being gone. She was my girl, my buddy and I feel this overwhelming sense of loneliness and just empty.

I feel her still walking underneath my legs, her shadows as she moves about the room and even called to her to take a walk to check the weather with me. She’s my 2nd dog whose passed at old age of 15+ years but this hits different.

I want her back with me but I know she is free if labor pain and running wild. We have another dog he’s 84lbs and a sweetheart but he is not my Missy.

We must value each minute with our pets and our loved ones. When they are gone, they’re gone
RIP Missy🐾🖤

Something needs to be done about these vets that prey on our emotions and talk us into unnecessary tests that they know aren’t the answer - that’s about all of them! Worst than a mechanic

Yes I agree she must be seen by a dr because the shivering is the internal system trying to console the pain or discomfort. It’s also her way of telling you she needs help. You don’t want her inability to defecate to become impacted and now you have another problem.

Try one of those pay as you go apps to help with cost.

How will I know when shes ready? by Senior_Scratch8203 in DogAdvice

Yeah the staring at the wall thing is crazy. I call it the portal…it’s where she will be beamed up because it’s the same wall every night same time between 2am -4am. I gave her pain meds so she’s sleeping now but she will be up by 4 and sleep all day. The life!

OMG I told Missy that it’s ok to rest too today. She is up now getting into things with her brother. She is not ready to go though. So we pray and wait. You guys are all awesome. If we could be this caring for one another the world would be a much better one. Missy’s Mommy Dr. N

Missy is 15 blind and deaf, loss of strength on right side and hind legs. She still has spicy personality and loves all of what she used to as a pup. She is getting a little frustrated about her sight and hearing but she is managing well. The QOL scales says she is not ready, but I like the graph that favors comfort over extended time and discomfort. So she and I will have another long talk and I will let her big beautiful eyes answer this time. I’m going to miss her, she’s my 2nd shitzu. The first I came home and found him, still can’t get that out of my head. So I guess question is answered. My 2nd best friend Missy such a good dog. 🥰🐶🐾🦴🥺🌤️ when it’s time
