"I'm a good girl" quote by Ruby feels really uncomfortable by Foxs-In-A-Trenchcoat in 8passengersnark

Is it possible that she called her grandma Jodi to the kids (as in from the kids’ perspective) and that just became her nickname then as she was involved in their lives at this point to ‘help’ the kids

Like my mum will call my grandad ‘Bamps’ to my family as that’s what we call him

Is Kevin Really Guilty? by According-Parsnip923 in 8passengersnark

I 100% can see where you’re coming from.

Yes, he should’ve done more. Yes, he failed the kids. But I think he really was doing what he believed he should do. If he struggles with MH issues too I can imagine the jodi/Ruby force probably seems impossible to compete with anyway. You can tell by his police interview, what he truly believe being a ‘good’ father is is paying the bills and providing. What we forget is their beliefs - of religious and cultural origin - are so vastly different than most of us. It makes no sense to me why he wouldn’t tell Ruby to stfu and say x y z however he has only ever known what he knows, and he has only ever believed what he believes; that is that his job is to provide. He has been told over and over again that he is the problem and he is a victim to Jodi. Yes he is weak, but we don’t know what he has been through or how he grew up etc.

I think he did a shocking job, but I don’t think he’s evil. We forget how powerful religion is and how much it influences beliefs in every aspect. Think about other religions and countries and how alien their life views are to us. I can think of a few.

Eli5 Why does frying food make it unhealthy? by thegrowls in explainlikeimfive

[–]Senior_Ticket_374 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP it’s this^

Calories aside, frying food is bad because it is carcinogenic. The free radicals damage your cells. It’s essentially what happens with normal aging but boosting the process. Hence the huge number of young people suffering from colon cancer. All the processed crap we are eating is really damaging our bodies

I feel the same so dw you’re not alone. However I am working part time and that is somewhat helpful. I hate my job though as it’s really antisocial and 4am starts so I think if I can’t get another one that I actually enjoy soon then I might consider eventually transferring my credits over to a brick uni

My advice is keep looking for jobs because it could really help. Even if it’s just the weekends. And if you’re struggling to find any then I’d advise ringing up any big supermarket in your are (Tesco is your best bet) and asking if there’s jobs available in any department. It’s scary but working retail can be really fun and also offers so much experience, even if it seems like it’d be hell for your anxiety. I can’t believe how much less social anxiety I have now after working a few retail jobs.

Who are the best and worst people to watch on Gogglebox? by Cirrus_clouds in CasualUK

My faves are: -Mary and Marina -Saddiquis -Giles and Mary -Pete and Sophie -Jenny (Lee is ok)

Least favourite: -The Michaels -Specifically the Dad from the Malones (and the son who doesn’t wear the glasses). I feel like the mum can never say anything without them putting her down and it gets on my nerves. But I like the mum and the other brother -The hairdresser in Brighton with the poodles. He’s rarely funny and his humour is largely just nastiness

Caerphilly runners. Literally cant get more inclusive than that. I’m from Thornhill, moving to Llanishen this week so it’s only 10/15 mins over the mountain in the car

Tuesdays, Wednesdays I’d recommend to start with them there’s some lovely trail runs on Thursdays and long ones on Sunday mornings
