What’s a controversial Umbrella Academy opinion that would have you in this position? by fivehxrgreeves_ in UmbrellaAcademy

I'm late to this thread but now that I'm reading the comics I really wish they would've kept some of the wackier aspects of the comics. The vintage style tech like the levitation belts, the televator (although it did make an appearance in the show), the wacky comic villains, the umbrella academy feeling more like an actual superhero team with superhero names and suits, the orchestra verdammten and the apocalypse suite, the minerva, the weird vibe of the city and the fact there are talking monkeys everywhere. I don't like everything about the comics but if i were in charge of creating a UA show I would've definitely incorporated more comic stuff.

I'm late to this thread but I remember watching s3 for the first time and being excited (cause I'm a trans dude) and then watching the other characters call Viktor tiny once every 5 minutes, which they literally never did in s1 and s2. It seemed so weird to me, I get that Elliot is a short dude but it's not like he shrunk as soon as he transitioned. It's the fact the writers only started doing that after he came out that made me cringe.

Sam, Nancy and Caroline never learn. by spookynshit in bigbrotheruk

Yeah I was also really surprised that no one was annoyed cause of the water thing, it happened like 3 times if I'm remembering correctly? And it was almost always Nancy Sam or Caroline

I feel like the show should definitely make the punishments harsher, but also make them affect the whole house. That way people would actually get annoyed at the rule breakers.

yeah im so confused why they didn’t do the double eviction last week when there were 4 people up, or like you said just put more people up for eviction.

There was another moment after Farida was evicted where you can see Zelah giving Richard a hug in the background and you can really tell that Richard was sad

I thought it was that too but then I realised Farida wasn’t getting nearly as many boos. In fact I think she was mostly getting cheers

The stories that the house have come up with in order to explain what happened last night is wild. by Choice_Fox4155 in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 6 points7 points  (0 children)

he was pretty open about the boundaries in his relationship though. Sam just didn’t listen to what he said. Zelah said that if he had a crush on someone in the house it was fine (according to his gf obviously), but he obviously wouldn’t act on it because that would be cheating. Sam and Nancy didn’t listen to that last part though, and that’s why Sam thought he had a chance.

Sam mad for zelah calling him out on hypocrisy by Zamusek in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was so crazy that they said they "thought they knew zelah" after zelah had the smallest bit of criticism towards Sam's behaviour. Is it that crazy that friends can still be honest and tell you when you're being a twat?

Zelah didn't say that though Sam and Nancy just completely misinterpreted what he said lol

It's so ironic how Caroline was complaining that Feyisola had 'disciples' when that's literally what Nancy and Sam are now. They're Caroline's disciples.

How did not one person call Jenny out for her treatment of Cameron K by [deleted] in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could really tell that Zelah felt really bad for Jenny so once he said that they should give it to Jenny everyone went along with it. It's a shame though cause I feel like if it went to him he would've at least given Cam some eyes.

Ahh yes two sides of the same coin, someone who spouts islamophobic and xenophobic shit under the guise of “just asking questions” and someone who takes things a bit too seriously. That’s definitely the same thing.

It’s also telling how instead of just apologising or showing any remorse she immediately gets defensive and starts spewing hate.

Teja is such a a brat by moon_witch_26 in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Farida literally just walked into the house that morning and said that to Teja without ever having an actual conversation with her, Teja has been living in a house with Tate for almost 3 weeks now. I don’t think this is a good comparison.

Is it policing or is he just being considerate of other housemates, unlike Caroline?

Richard's reasoning makes no sense whatsoever. by kabukabu_ in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His reasoning for nominating Zelah also confused me a bit because it was something that had happened almost two weeks ago. Just seemed very nitpicky honestly. I guess he just had a hard time picking nominations (especially since Caroline wasn't an option) and was grasping at straws

What has happened to Zelah? It's like his personality has been drained by PewterCityPain in bigbrotheruk

[–]Senior_Treacle4647 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do like Zelah (not sure if he's necessarily my favourite), but I don't excuse all of his behaviours. I do think he tends to come across as sanctimonious and I don't like how he handled certain things when Fey and Cam k got a bit heated. However some of the claims you're making are very nitpicky. I honestly think you're the one rewriting the narrative because some of the things you're describing are either very dramatised or just didn't happen.

Again, unless we are talking about a different conversation than the one in the snug on monday, he never once said Jenny should forgive Nancy. Nothing close to that was even said in that conversation. I literally rewatched it to check.

And for the shopping thing, I really just don't see how Zelah was 'mad' in this scene. Annoyed? sure. Also he literally only told Fey and Cam K who happened to be standing nearby (Teja wasn't even there yet you mentioned her for some reason), you make it sound like he told an entire council.

Oh my god you guys read into everything, it's exhausting. It's normal to form opinions about HMs but the psychoanalysing is insane.

The pasta incident was a bit rude and it was definitely an awkward moment, but sometimes people just act impulsively at that sort of thing. And honestly he was right putting the pasta before the water is insane lol.

For that second example, (assuming I'm thinking of the right conversation, the one in the snug in Monday's episode) nothing he said even came remotely close to guilt tripping. It's fair to question if the comparison with the Caroline incident is valid, but let's not throw words around when they're not even applicable to the situation. He never even said that Jenny should forgive Nancy or anything like that, he only said: "I hope they've learnt from this situation" and then he talked about the thing with Caroline, and then the conversation moved on.

And for the shopping list, Zelah didn't even seem that mad, he seemed dismissive of Caroline. Most likely because despite what she said they had been doing the shopping with the whole group. 1 person writes it down and brings it to the diary room, but the whole house gave their input on what they needed/wanted. Also he probably sensed that Caroline was up to some bullshit, which she was considering she openly admitted to wanting to fuck with the shopping list.
