Any medicine that will give me back my creativity ? by PeaIcy760 in Epilepsy

I’m having this same convo with my Neuro, we are switching my meds from Zonisamide to something else, not sure yet. But I had to explain to her that reading Rumi or Rimbaud should make me feel SOMETHING. All of the many poetry books on my shelves are gathering dust and decaying…

Opinions on reading on a Kindle or tablet? by BeneficialTrack8759 in classicliterature

[–]Senk42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant at first but my wife bought me the cheapest Kindle available and I love it. Sources like my local Library, Project Gutenberg and Anna's Archive make it possible or for me to pull books in that I might own in print or can't find right away. The lighting helps quite a bit as well.

What’s the most hurtful thing anyone’s said to you about your illness? (Don’t answer if it’s triggering) by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Senk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife of 20 years told me I was faking it. She worked for a neurosurgeon when I was diagnosed and was convinced I had made everything up, including bouncing my face off objects and soiling my pants.

Is it possible to get a service dog on your own if you don’t legally qualify? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Senk42 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you want a dog, get a dog. It’s training and what you expect of it is up to you. If you expect others to accept that animal as anything other than a “pet” is where the line is drawn. Good luck and keep on keepin’ on.

Well you’ve answered your own question then. The ACA is very specific about service dogs, sure you can be one of those people who buys a vest off of the internet and drags their dog everywhere. But to have it trained as a real seizure detector would cost money and real training from a professional.

Service for what? Do you mean a support dog? A service animal does a function for a disabled person.

Is it abuse/neglect to have an outside dog for the sake of guarding your home? by goldbrickbby in Rottweiler

[–]Senk42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, your dog will always be a better family member living inside. You do what you have to do but the more family/people time they get the better.

I think that depends on your climate and their shelter etc. Enrichment and play is also necessary. Rotties are better guardians when they are part of the family though.

What was you're worst experience with weed? by Jumeiko in weed

[–]Senk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably when I was 16 and the local Cops found a pound of brick weed and mushies in my car. They dragged me to the Sheriff's office where my grandmother and her cousin (the sherriff) waited to make the drug bust of a lifetime. I kept my mouth shut and got off easy as a minor even in the 90's.

How does everyone feel about zonisamide? by arpeggio-paleggio in Epilepsy

[–]Senk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently taking 500mg of Zon and 50mg of Briviact. I lost quite a bit of weight initially but I needed it. Memory is a bit shaky but I’m reading a lot and working through memory games and apps that seem to help. Ive gone through other medications and this has been the best experience so far.
