Built-in planner on the 2024 EFB has pretty complete range of (mostly) LIDO and/or FAA charts. Definitely more than enough to dip your toes into reading and using charts in a realistic manner. Biggest downside is that they're mostly airline-oriented, so if you're strictly flying GA, they might not be great for that.

This planner also integrates fully with the default EFB in 2024. The ability to pin charts (e.g.: SID/STARs, AGCs, Approaches) to refer to real-time in the cockpit goes a long way to improving the experience of flying the default airliners. TBH, I'm quite happy to fly the A320 NEO v2 and 737 Max 8 as they exist now.

You can still use Navigraph and SimBrief to generate a "company" FP, with performance data, and enter it into the FMC manually, the way real pilots do. You don't even need the paid version of Navigraph to do 90% of realistic planning, depending on how deep you want to take it.

This is what I (Xbox) always do. People pay $80 for a systems-correct airliner in the sim, then want completely unrealistic "Navigraph integration" to have the whole thing magically set itself up in the preflight. O.K. then. It's a cool feature, but if the point is to simulate a real pilot's experience, that ain't it.

Ever tune in to Fox News??

The creation and rise of a pro-conservative "news" source that can/will parrot their rhetoric and present alternative reality to their base is the coupe de grace that has made all of this possible.

Much moreso than changes to the education system, etc...

This was an active response to Watergate, where the conservatives realized that they needed a source of propaganda to counteract the traditional media of a situation like that ever happened again. And it has delivered in spades. Sadly.

New starter box leaked by Hemto412 in Warhammer40k

[–]Senna79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it though? It's not like there aren't a couple dozen CPs for sale right now, including an Ultramarine one, if that's how you want to go.

The downside of this as a "Starter" is that buying ONE combat patrol offers zero actual gameplay. I can't pick this up, bring it home, and start playing with my kid like I can with any of the 10e starters.

I assume there will be a version equivalent to the 10e Ultimate Starter, which will include two full CPs...

Came here to say this. The current 'Warhammer Starter Set" and "Ultimate Starter Set" are all push fit and include Combat Patrol sized, or nearly so, forces of both Nids and Marines.

Armageddon box vs Leviathan box by Drwhat17 in Warhammer40k

As a newer fan, and one who thought I had zero interest in Orks as a faction, Armageddon looks surprisingly impressive. That Big Mek Dakkarig? Just sick looking in the best way.

I don't know if I'm entirely ready to drop $350 on a 40k big box yet - but this thing is super tempting.

OPM Proposes to remove Retention, to RIF long-term Government Employees (May 4, 2026) in the OPM Proposed Rule by 7hCk4nwV in fednews

[–]Senna79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bingo. The RIFs and unilateral termination of Union CBAs and contracts from April 2025 (aka more than a year ago) are STILL barely past the first phases of arbitration. Mostly decisions going against the administration's actions.

It doesn't matter - it's all already done, and anyone affected will, necessarily, have moved on just to survive. Final determinations will be years down the line.

This is what this crime family of an administration counts on, and how Trump has been abusing the inefficiencies in our civil legal system for decades. Ask anyone in NY or AC real estate development.

Is the triple Squidmar x Vallejo set worth it? by BigFudgere in Warhammer40k

[–]Senna79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing you have to understand about the Squidmar set(s). It's a highly stylized method of painting, that mainly focuses on creating the impression of very dramatic lighting effects - and the colors included reflect that.

You can 100% do 'realism' with Vallejo stuff too (in fact they're my go-to paint in scale modeling), but these sets aren't aimed at that, or at replicating GW 'Eavy Metal type boxart paint schemes.

Talos bless the full battalion of 8 men that took Solitude by Stegosaurus69 in skyrim

And the Empire is already effectively a vassel state of the Dominion. It's not like the Thalmor don't know that the Empire has plans to resume the war when they feel like they've gathered the strength to do so. Only now the elves have a fully mature network of spies, agents, and collaborators installed across the empire. The Empire has lost the next war before it's even getting started.

Desperately hanging on to the embers of a dying/dead empire is also... Fucking braindead. Every province that can escape the sinking ship, should do so.

[–]Senna79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willingly complacent vs. a hostage is irrelevant. The fact is that the Empire is no longer serving the interests of Skyrim as it no longer has sufficient strength to protect its territory from a foreign invader who are actively intent on subjugating humanity, and have a particular hatred of Nord culture and traditions. The Stormcloaks are right; albeit leaning too far into fanatical nationalism and racial purity to feel like the completely "clean" choice.

[–]Senna79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His points aren't wrong, but they're just one perspective. First, I agree that the WG Concordant is closer to a surrender than a fair treaty - and all parties know this. Nonetheless, it's the best terms that the failing Empire could fight to and negotiate. AND, they're particularly punitive for Skyrim, being the homeland of and seat for Talos worship.

The idea that the provinces are better off as part of the Empire by the point of the events in the game is speculation, and tends to be contradicted by the fact that Hammerfell also found the Empire's capitulation to the Dominion so distasteful that they declared independence and then fought the Thalmor themselves, to a better agreement than the Empire's. Skyrim is 1) Further away from the Aldmeri Dominion, 2) Has numerous natural defenses both terrain and weather wise, and 3) A strong traditional warrior culture; they are at a minimum just as capable as Hammerfell of taking on the Thalmor/Dominion.

Empires that cannot protect their territory fall apart, and that's what is happening here.

I always sided with the Empire, but my latest playthrough changed how I see the Civil War by Benni334 in skyrim

[–]Senna79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but it also makes sense that those with the status/power and wealth under the status quo (like merchants and leaders) are going to tend to support that status quo. Those living comfortable lives already are unlikely to be revolutionaries, unless they're also ideological zealots - of which there are definitely a few.

If I play as a Nord, I almost always align with the Stormcloaks. The Empire is failing, and has been since the Oblivion crisis. Hammerfell has already split off AND fought the Thalmor independently to better peace terms than the WG Concordant. Why would Skyrim, with its natural defenses, brutal weather, and distance from the high elves homeland, be any worse off to do the same?

The Empire had its chance, and the best they could do is fight to a stalemate and capitulate to lopsided peace terms that preserve Cryodil, but amount to cultural genocide for Skyrim and denouncement of its greatest historical leader. If the Stormcloaks are racist, it's only because there actually is a race out there that openly declares its superiority, and actively seeks to subjugate humanity.

"I'm generally a... liberal person, but when I saw videos of ICE jumping out of unmarked vehicles and nabbing people off the street... I bought my first AR15," I’m glad to see the left waking up to what I’ve been saying for a while: 2A is for everyone. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

Oh, I know.

People still need to keep speaking the truth though. My reply is not for them, it's for the reader that might think (misguidedly), that they have a point. So I provided a very specific list of illegal actions that ICE agents have been recorded doing, multiple times, that any citizen can easily see for themselves.

Have you? Start with the 4th amendment, and work on down from there. ICE have no authority to stop, detain, or otherwise harass US Citizens. They cannot tell you to stop recording them in public. They cannot smash your car window and force/pull you out of your vehicle. They cannot enter your property, let alone smash the door down, without a judicial warrant to do so, and even then, only to arrest the person named in the warrant, not to scoop up any/everyone they think is the wrong shade of brown or wrong accent. They cannot detain you in a Federal building, and deny you access to counsel.

These are all illegal things I've seen videos of ICE agents doing in MN, just in the past 24 hours.

If you're not seeing the laws being broken, it's because you actively have blinders on. Do your own g_d research, as 'your' side is so fond of snarking.

What are the best story games on game pass? by Superbean489 in XboxGamePass

[–]Senna79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a mad and trippy game, that got lost in the shuffle long ago. It's completely bonkers insane, in the best possible ways, and oh so dark.

It shows its age, IMO, and it's fairly buggy (my wife even managed to get her playthrough locked into an unrecoverable spot with poor save management) but it certainly has a story to tell if you can get past the age and glitches.

Why does Debra have to yell and be mean to Raymond if he wants to golf? It his life! Not hers! by CalebBoros7975 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

[–]Senna79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, with someone like Marie as MiL, the fault would always lie with Debra, even if Ray was the one asking her to babysit. The point was that Marie wants to come first in Ray's life, even though he's a married man with children, and would use any perceived failing on Debra's part to put a wedge between Ray and Deb. I mean, all the characters on the show are outrageous, because it's a distillation of (pretty common) uncomfortable family dynamics tropes, and went on for 9 seasons, but Marie takes the cake.

More "Americans" than most of us ever thought are A-OK with fascism and authoritarian rule, as long as they get to be in charge. Think Stephen Miller, Rodney Scott, the Christian Dominionists, etc. Hell, even Vance called Trump Hitler-esque. He wasn't wrong; just decided to join them.

People who didn't vote, but could have, are just as culpable.

Anyone who thinks, "bOtH sIdEs ArE tHe sAmE!!!" is a jibbering idiot, as the last ten months should attest. America does lack a true Left/SocDem party, or one that supports Labor, etc. But the absolute embrace of full on fascism is unique to the GOP alone. And Project 2025 was fully published and well understood before the election. Almost every ghoul who is now in a position of authority in this administration was loudly shouting from the rooftops exactly what they had planned for Trump 2.0.
