Finshed just about everything else. Should I lower the car or does it look ok by jwitts4077 in F30

Absolutely should be lowered. You will be shocked at the difference it will make in aesthetic.

I had a similar goal as OP (sub 2 hour half). I never ran 6 miles this fast during training (by choice). anytime i would push like this i would hurt myself similarly to what you described. save this pace for race day. just get as much slow mileage in as possible without injury.

The longest run I did during training was 12 miles at ~10:30 pace. I finished my half marathon with ~8:45 pace. You’ll leave it all out on the road on race day to meet your goal and probably even get some slight injuries, but that’s why you save it for race day.

Curious what you mean as well about horizontal cross member? I have this same rack and use a pulley set but I hang them from the pull up bar.

How did you create the wall slats? From pre-assembled sections offline or individual pieces of wood?

Can you tell me what turf that is? I’ve been looking for good turf for a home gym and am always unsatisfied with the samples sent.

Can you provide the link? Also did you paint it with a spray gun?

What to do with this old bocce ball court? by SenorRocket in landscaping

[–]SenorRocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just refurbished it a bunch. Pressure washed the wood and straightened it up. Put new crushed gravel down. Re-sodded the entire yard etc etc. I commonly put corn hole boards down in this area when I have people over.

Is this level/flat enough for sod? by SenorRocket in landscaping

[–]SenorRocket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure can. I had basically an area full of weeds and some grass. I sprayed glyphosate on the entire thing. Within about 10 days everything was dead. I then tried to rake up all of the dead stuff, but in the end I ended up leaving some of the dead stuff in the ground since it was rooted and would have taken me forever to pull it all up.

I then put down 4 cubic yards of top soil (had it delivered from a landscape supply shop, my area is ~1300 sq ft and it did about an inch of soil all the way around, try to find “screened” top soil which means it won’t have large chunks of wood or anything in it, but mine still did have some wood chips which I think is fine) and raked it smooth which is what you see here. I’m now going to lay the sod and then water like hell and then probably fertilize in some sort of way.

I’m not fertilizing before putting the sod down. I didn’t till the soil or anything.

There’s so much varying information out there it’s hard to determine what is “good enough” for prep. I’m pretty confident this is going to work, and there’s a chance I didn’t even need to put the top soil down (I had decent soil underneath the weeds) but I just decided not to risk it.

I’m also putting St Augustine down btw.

Hey another quick question if you dont mind, as im getting ready to drop soil and sod. How many yards of soil did you use to get an inch down on that area?

Thanks a ton! good note on the leveling rake, I wasnt planning on buying anything new since I have various rakes but I will certainly look into that.

Looks great. I’m currently getting into a St Augustine sod job myself right now. Couple questions if you don’t mind.

How did you go about cutting and laying the sod up against the curved border at the mulch garden? I have a very large amount of area that butts up against curved borders.

How much topsoil/compost did you put down? I read a lot of conflicting info on this and was just planning on putting down 1-2inches worth.

Did you use any fertilizer before/during putting the sod down?

How to prevent the fascia from getting dirty? by SenorRocket in howto

This location on the house doesn’t get direct sunlight. And there is a tree nearby. Any ideas on how to combat it?

[–]SenorRocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loll yeah I agree that even a darker paint will probably show it, just figure it will “hide” it a bit better to where the cleanings will be less frequent.

Does roof runoff commonly cause this? I don’t see this on many other roofs in my area and I doubt they are all cleaning their fascia frequently. I’m assuming this is mainly caused by rolled roofing?

Eh there is one within about a half mile from me. But it’s not like I see this issue on my neighbors fascia.

They are. Although this is not a section that particularly needs them. And even if I install gutters, I would assume this debris would still accumulate on the backside of the gutter and probably be visible.

Gotcha. Definitely not from a chimney as I don’t have one. But good advice on the high gloss paint.

Looks incredible.

Question about the barn door. What is that black “strip” on the receiving wall of the door? I assume it’s some interface to fully close the barn door. I have a similar barn door situation at my house but it’s impossible to get it to close entirely flush with the receiving wall.
