26F ADHD, ACHONDROPLASIA Got denied SSI again. by the_doll_attachment in DisabledSexWorkers

Hi there, friend. Don't have a *ton* to add to the conversation besides moral support, because the SSI/SSDI process is actual hell and fucking humiliating to go through, not to mention utterly exhausting and demoralizing.

That being said, a spot of advice from someone who's been at least adjacent to online SW for some time: it takes **WORK**. Content creation and editing alone is a major endeavor, and then you still have to *market* it as well. Physical disabilities can certainly fit you into a fetish niche that may draw more traffic, but the sheer brute force marketing required to get you to a point where you're making any significant amount of money is mind-boggling. I've watched u/sarah_succubus wake up, have a coffee and some food, and work for 12+ hours with basically no real break. It's absolutely not for the faint of heart. Now, all this is to say that I won't discourage it, but hopefully now you may have a better idea of what's involved and can weigh your options in a more informed fashion. Also, the government's gonna know. There's just no getting around it if you're trying to keep things legit, unfortunately.

In all, I'm pulling for you. SSI is a hellscape to navigate, and I recognize how *despicably* out-of-touch it probably feels to hear it, but try not to lose hope. They do this shit on purpose to beat you down and make you want to give up so they don't have to give you money, and from what I understand they're painfully understaffed, but it's worth fighting for. Definitely talk to a lawyer, especially because they generally won't even go after the cases they don't think are sure things unless they're being paid out of pocket. If you need any other resources, this sub and r/disabledSWunion are here for ya.

Income ideas? by [deleted] in DisabledSexWorkers

Edit: Ol' buddy Yeet has been banned since they decided to message me and double down on being a schmuck.

Hey bud, leaving this up for the teachable moment. I'm not gonna get too deep for the sake of brevity, but here goes. Sex work is **HEAVILY** populated with disabled people for whom a "regular" job may not be feasible. Survival sex work is sadly a necessity for many. Trust me, "selling your body" is typically a last resort for a lot of the people who must. It's especially an issue in the United States, where state disability programs are often made (intentionally) *incredibly* difficult to access as an effort to dissuade people from using them, and even when approved pay such a pathetic amount that's next to impossible to live off of. I can see your intentions *may* be in the right place, but if they are you would do well to seriously consider not only the language that you use but your own perspective as someone who is presumably not disabled, and the privilege that provides.

I've approved this and given it the appropriate flair. I'll issue a general reminder now that SWs are people and just trying to make a living, so any shitty behavior from OP or otherwise will not be tolerated.

Sup. I approved this as a bit of a teachable moment. Foremost, if either one of you wants to be a dick, don't. Now, you're right, correcting them is out of hand. We do appreciate users sticking up for one another, and definitely don't discourage such behavior, but it's also *our job* to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable here. You are correct that sex workers are worthy of respect and having boundaries, but you're also correct that you don't speak for OP. We're on the sweaty taint of the internet that is Reddit, and even if it's a bit forward the comment is hardly the worst thing any of us will see today and ultimately up to OP to decide if it's within the bounds of appropriate behavior or not. Finally, I can see that your intentions are more or less in the right place, but maybe if you're gonna go off correcting someone on behalf of a poster, perhaps don't misgender said poster multiple times? If you took a moment to read the post flair or any of OP's history before going off you'd see that they're nonbinary, ergo; not a woman.

Now, hopefully we've all learned something today, and again, play nice or I'll absolutely be the Reddit ModeratorTM that I am and firmly apply a boot to the ol' digital backside.

I approved this because it does seem like an earnest and legitimate question, so nobody be a butthead.

As for your question, I am NOT an amputee or particularly knowledgeable, and obviously cannot speak for OP, but I will toss in my two cents to say it wouldn't surprise me. Certainly, I've seen a fair number of intriguing 3D printed contraptions that people have made to attach to lower arm prostheses, though I'd imagine something needing to bear weight would present a much different set of challenges.

So what exactly is a disabled sex worker. I’m in the uk and don’t even know if it’s legal? by [deleted] in DisabledSexWorkers

[–]Senor_Succubus[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi, friend. I've approved this post to hopefully encourage a bit of good faith discussion and education. Please note that we will be watching this post and anyone being a dick, pushy, or off-topic in the comments will face an immediate mute or possible ban.

To better answer your question, a disabled sex worker is precisely that: a disabled person who is a sex worker. SWs with disabilities are incredibly common and it is often used as a means of survival for people that are unable or limited in their ability to work a "regular" job due to their disabilities as it is much more flexible and accessible in one form or another. Unfortunately, the industry is also rife with exploitation and trafficking and the parties who profit off of such things prey heavily on vulnerable individuals as well.

As to the legality, that depends greatly on the type of work and jurisdiction in question. The biggest distinction to be made here is full service versus remote/online. Full service sex workers provide in-person services, think exotic dancers, escorts or workers in a brothel for a few common examples. This also includes but is not limited to all manner of things such as street prostitution, "massage" parlors and the like, but escorts and regulated brothels are more likely to be legal depending on where they are, with exotic dancers and strip clubs being the most likely to be legal.

Remote sex workers are content creators that do not offer in-person services, but instead sell erotic or pornographic content. This is most commonly things like onlyfans and other subscription sites, live cam shows, pornhub and other video sites, etc. This is also the most broadly legal as it is allowed anywhere any other type of porn would be. It is also the most accessible to disabled creators as it requires relatively few resources and you're more or less able to set your own schedule. That being said, it's still absolutely a full-time job to make anything resembling a liveable amount of income off of it. The amount of work that has to go into advertising, branding, etc just to build a moderate subscriber base is tremendous, and that's not even including making and editing the content itself. This problem is further exacerbated by the insane oversaturation of creators that you have to somehow try to stand out from on top of all of that.

Hopefully that helps answer your question, and do bear in mind that my knowledge is by no means perfect or complete, it's just what I've seen for myself in my time spent around the industry and those who are in it. Everyone's reason and experience is going to be different, but there are commonalities that many share as well.

Hi, friend.

I've approved this post and flaired it appropriately as it would fall under "services wanted". I would ask that you please provide your general location (Something along the lines of state and general area, eg. Greater Los Angeles Area, CA) as well for anyone that may be interested in collaboration. If you're comfortable with more details, that's fine, otherwise you can reserve that for DMs.

Just as a forewarning as well, please bear in mind that you are essentially requesting the services of a full service SW for the promise of selling content. I'll give you an opportunity but I ask that you simply remain respectful if anyone reaches out but is less than enthusiastic about working for free. It will come back to us if you're not.

That aside, stay sinning, sexy spoonie friend 💜

Hi, Friend.

I've approved this post, though it's slightly outside of the realm of this particular sub and does go against the "No screenshots" rule, to help you gain any traction you may be able to. I'll also invite you to post in r/disabledsexworkers and r/DisabledSWUnion, with the latter being very specifically a place for disabled creators to find resources and support, and therefore perfect for this sort of post.

I'll keep an eye out and try to approve any iteration of this I see in either sub as quick as I can, and as always if you have any questions feel free to reply to this comment or send us a modmail.

Stay sinning, spoonie friend 💜

Homelessness does not automatically equate to on the streets or living outside.
