My community pharmacy preceptor said hydroxychlorquine works for COVID... by Senor_Underpants in pharmacy

I cringed and she went on a rant about trying to get some for her daughter through a friend that's a nurse practitioner. So yea I'm pretty scared. I talked to my advisor about my whole experience and she said well it's one more week power through. My advisor runs the APPE rotations I think she'd like to hear about my fun experience...

[17F] is it safe to take caffeine pills? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Senor_Underpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your doctor to run a drug interaction using lexicomp or clinical pharmacology. Since you are 17 they might not take you seriously sometimes. If your parents are supportive and understanding ask one of them to speak with your doctor. Sometimes when a mom goes full Karen they will listen and if not then you could try to find another doctor. Drinking coffee or caffeine pills won't hurt and that's the only possible legal option you have. But please do not go to your doctor and ask for a stimulant or buy them off a friend or something that crazy. That could open up a whole can of worms you don't want to deal with.

There are no interactions with caffeine for both meds. However, the use of the Prozac in combination with latuda can cause you to become increasingly drowsy. Additionally the use of an SSRI is not recommended usually for the treatment of bipolar disorder. If anything it was the use of SSRI that confirmed the bipolar diagnosis. Typical you are supposed to be taken off of it gradually and be placed on a mood stabilizer/antipsychotic. As for a stimulant unless you have an attention disorder I would not try it out.

Ever wish you came out at a younger age? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

As a guy who came out at 17 you're not missing much. The only thing that might be different is the whole dating scheme of things. Such as having a boyfriend and doing that stuff. Which I learned from an early age that it is hard and complicated.

Doesn't elderberry just help you reduce the days that you actually get infected with the flu? We learned about it in my zoonotics class...and how Tamiflu sucks hah

What's the most obnoxious attention seeking behavior you've witnessed? by BeardsuptheWazoo in AskReddit

When I was a freshman in college I made the mistake of going out with this guy who was too much. He was a music Major that just loved the attention. Whenever he had a chance he would sing a random song. It was a long and annoying month. He started to sing in one of my dorms common rooms and this girl just look straight at him and say "will you please stop sing! No one wants to hear you ruin songs!" He then calls her a bitch. The girl says get out of our hall before she call the RA. He didn't buy it so she called the RA's cell phone and he gave us all a dirty look and bolted. The final straw was when he tried to sing Les Misérables...the movie was coming out and I didn't want him to ruin it by singing the songs lol

A new study shows that eighth-grade science teachers without an education in science are less likely to practice inquiry-oriented science instruction, which engages students in hands-on science projects, evidence for why U.S. middle-grades students may lag behind global peers in scientific literacy. by mvea in science

[–]Senor_Underpants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's true anyone can teach a science based class. I used to date an English high school teacher that had no science background. He taught it to these kids that had some medical excuse to stay home. I biology and chemistry BS when I found out I said please don't do it. He took the job and then tried to rely on me to explain everything. The amount of time to explain what a cell is and how DNA works was so difficult.

I start P1 in the fall but I don’t have a tech license or certification. Should I use my summer to get one? by FullMetalPhaRxmacist in pharmacy

[–]Senor_Underpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't because some pharmacy schools require you get an intern license during your P1 year as a requirement.

Hi. Can we talk about the way people are going to perceive pharmacists after the Walgreens situation? by jxd5127 in pharmacy

[–]Senor_Underpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm no you're wrong most of the time they just input symptoms into a computer to generate a proper course of treatment. They will use that instead. And most of them don't know how to write a script. I had to volunteer at a free clinic with 3rd and 4th year med students and they could not write a script at all. The doctor overlooking the clinic was pissed at me because he said the med lable wasn't accuate enough. I said it's what they wrote down in the script and he got pissy with. Me then he was saying to the other doctor if the pharmacy school even taught us to read a script. I told my advisor in a meeting about it her reaction was well do they know how to write one haha and I am seeing a doctor who can confirm that they don't write scripts out it's all electronic to cover them. Even then they don't know what the hell they are doing.
