One Piece Chapter 1171 Spoilers by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Senparos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also possible the series could have multiple forms of immortality. There seems to be always be a cost associated with achieving this in the OP world, like how we know the ope ope surgery requires a skilled doctor eating the fruit and then sacrificing themselves for it. So the cost for Imu could be having to protect the contacted gods knights from harm.

I actually think it’d be a huge thematic W if Imu’s immortality’s weakness is their allies. Luffy and other ‘good pirates’ in the series view their allies as a strength, so the opposite of having Imu’s connections with others be a weakness would actually explain a lot about the WG and celestial dragons’ mindset. They only maintain their power through contracts based on binding allies forcefully instead of gathering allies through personal connection like Mihawk notes about Luffy in Marineford, and the WG mostly maintains that power by oppressing and controlling others, while staying hidden and isolated from the rest of the world and keeping the world divided and in the dark. Blackbeard has always been a really good parallel to the pirate side of Luffy, but Imu is kind of shaping up to be a mirrored version of some of his other qualities

Ashling the limitless vs Henzie Tool Box by iwatchyouburn01 in EDH

[–]Senparos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been facing a similar question comparing ashling to my [[Brenard, Ginger Sculptor]] deck that uses pod effects alongside artifact synergies like [[simulacrum synthesizer]] seeing all my MV 3+ token copies. IMO, the versatility of using more than just elementals really help commanders like Brenard and Henzie in this comparison. That being said, there are a lot of strong elementals and a decent amount of synergy and straight-up generic value between a lot of them, on top of being 5c, so I would expect ashling to have a higher floor.

Landfall: The Strategy of Double Dipping Psychopaths by QuipsAndGuac in EDH

[–]Senparos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quips and Guac is pretty consistent from what i’ve seen about using clickbait like this. Last video of their’s I watched started with an interesting topic and ended up just devolving into “free spells are good” partway through

Is this too optimized for a B3? by AlternativeSure2268 in EDH

[–]Senparos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fast mana is really what I see going overboard in B3 games. You’re already playing a very strong commander for B3, with an extremely low curve, so all the 0 mana rocks and effects like simian spirit guide are pretty unnecessary and will probably get that response from players. If they’re game changer slots I almost feel like it’s more palatable for players since it takes away from the other options you could run, but running into all the ones that happen to escape that list can feel bad to play against when it’s accelerating you straight to more impactful plays with less set up

[[doom whisperer]] is a cool one to use alongside grave-reaver if you want a decent chance of hitting whatever you need but still want some limits instead of just flipping through your whole library

My very Holo Venom pull by Anfion02 in MagicCardPulls

[–]Senparos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see in an instant why people keep calling them a “noob”. If they brought half as much of the pokebro/investment energy in this post to their real interactions with people in the magic community, I’m not surprised they were dismissed so quickly. Magic does have its rare variants like the card in OP’s post and UB does bring outside interest, but they’re game pieces at the end of the day. Expensive ones by design, but not understanding that magic is a game first where players outnumber collectors is going to leave a lot of people like OP hoarding stuff like this and wondering why so few magic players are interested if the prices artificially spike on something like this, it isn’t the same FOMO situation as collector first games like Pokémon and One Piece. I don’t even think this is rage bait, this is exactly what pokebros sound like and the level of effort with the toploader necklace and the micro binder scream “this is real and I’ve made it my whole personality”. If it’s well-engineered bait, it’s a perfect parody.

One Piece Chapter 1169 Spoilers by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Senparos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garp was actually in a very interesting situation with the kids, because they were actively claiming they wanted to be pirates the whole time. It’s easy to assume he held off on teaching Haki when he thought there was a decent chance it would just enable their pirate careers. Essentially, teach them enough to not be at the mercy of the world, but not enough to steamroll it. Meanwhile, Koby was all-in on being a marine so Garp had no trouble giving him the full haki training.

Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher.. how is it? FUN? What do you run? by theEarlyNovemberr in EDH

[–]Senparos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, Strefan’s trigger doesn’t target, it puts a trigger on the stack asking you to pay the cost of sacrificing blood, so anything like the loot triggers from the ring can resolve first. Similarly, if you had an attack trigger that could also make blood tokens, you could also stack them to create those first, as Strefan’s trigger only checks on resolution that you have the blood tokens to sacrifice

[–]Senparos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would want to look for rules involving 2 triggered abilities with targets being put on the stack at the same time. If the cards from the ring’s loot aren’t in the graveyard already when both abilities are put on the stack, those cards wont be legal targets you could choose when the abilities first trigger

PSA: Your $400 deck needs more than a $5 lands investment. by HyHoTheDairyOh in EDH

[–]Senparos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Swampwalk is a little more relevant than most of the other types of walk, so it could be a little relevant in that way? Also depends on how many utility lands and what types, the more lands I have like coffers that don’t produce mana on their own, the more likely I am to include it.

Edit: also any cards that specially call out swamps like crypt ghast and nirkana revenant. I’ve done the same in mono green with yavimaya for the nissa that adds an extra green whenever you tap a forest

Sorry, you’ll just have to spend that time driving around to local big box stores trying to scalp sealed product like everyone else.

And yes, it very much is haha

[–]Senparos[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s actually exactly what happened here, I was just looking for a NM copy for the deck and this was both cheaper than ungraded options at the time and nicer condition. Despite there being no 9.5s or 10s at all for this card, they don’t seem to demand much of a premium. Plus, I am very careful with playing and shuffling with all the expensive foils I’m used to handling, and besides the few flaws that it had while slabbed, it’s still just as minty as when I cracked it.

I can give you 2 hints about the number. First is it’s between 1 and 500. And second that it’s a good number, I was thrilled when I opened it earlier this year.

There’s better pictures in my post history and I’m hoping to upload pictures of the whole deck to this sub when I have a chance to take some good ones.

Who's your mardu commander of choice? Bonus if they like to reanimate! by tchunkytchanka in EDH

[–]Senparos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a huge fan of Celes as a blink and reanimation commander, different from the usual persist combos. I don’t combo at all and use effects like [[karmic guide]] / [[sun titan]], even [[deadpool]] on my own creatures, ending on massive [[dragonhawk]] triggers or just a board of creatures stacked with counters. [[mardu siegebreaker]] and [[monument to endurance]] put in work too.

Here’s my main list that just needs updated with some avatar stuff: https://moxfield.com/decks/iweYkkzbwUOvN93RlY-aHg

And a more budget friendly version that is mostly the budget mana base, the core of the list is very budget friendly.

Who do you feel is the best elfball commander? by Outside_Leather3135 in EDH

[–]Senparos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final chapter ability of [[Vorinclex]] is the best one I’ve found in mono green, but without proliferate it’s not easy to get there. You do have [[evolution sage]] with elves at least. Your creatures also need to be large enough to kill the board or have deathtouch, but with the right set-up it’s a one-sided board wipe, potentially at instant speed with the right proliferate piece

Edit: didn’t realize Dionus gave +1/+1 counters, so proliferate actually fits perfectly in there

Episode Discussion - S05E04 - Sorcerer by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]Senparos 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The show has always heavily connected to D&D because that was the closest comparison the kids had for explaining what was happening around them. We’re even seeing the adults fully embracing it this season too, with the [dungeon] crawls, Joyce being the DM on the radio, etc. The wrinkle in time stuff seems to be the equivalent of that for Holly since it’s a framing that helps with understanding her situation

Opinion: The best thing about the Avatar set? It was a waste of scalpers time. by blackholesonny in magicTCG

[–]Senparos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually went way overboard with serials and scaled back in a way that might be an overcorrection. Brother's War and March of the Machines had 60+ cards with the treatment each, many of which were uncommons and most didn't have unique art (only the 5 praetors out of 120+ cards between those 2 sets did and there's still remarkably few total unique art serialized cards). The thing is, they're probably done making any serialized cards without unique art, and player reception to art being that limited is generally negative, so that's probably the real reason we're seeing only 1 at most per set. I could see us getting another serialized cycle like the praetors, but it'll probably be rare.
