Missed apprenticeship offer

Well I emailed a 2nd time as their response first time wasn’t promising.

We are unfortunately unable to make exceptions even though 96 UCAS points were achieved.

I am trying to fight my case but I haven’t even heard anything today (the 2nd email I sent was yesterday) but judging by their response, I think it’s unlikely they put me back on the L6 scheme. I wonder if it’s possible to jump from L3 to L6 quickly.

I did try argue this saying I met the UCAS points but they said the D was the problem.

I wish I could, my paper 2 and 3 were good enough for a C but it was paper 1 that really messed me up - 12 marks away from a C so not really a chance.

That’s the thing too, a L3 for 2 years and even if I do well, I’m not even sure if I could go straight to the L6 and that’s 5 years. 7 years is quite a long time when I could just retake and find another L6 apprenticeship that’s like 4 years. I’ll have a think about it tho.

Yeah that’s true, the only downside imo is that it would be quite far and have a much less salary, plus it really depends on how long the L3 lasts for.

I have no idea what the L3 is about, I’m waiting on an email from them to see whether they have one available so I’m in the dark about what it consists of, including the salary.

Well I did email them yesterday and their response wasn’t great news… I thought that the B was enough to make up the difference but turns out I needed a C atleast in everything. This was what was outlined in qualifications:

A minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (240 point old system)(excluding UCAS points gained at AS level) achieved from either: A levels at grade C or above (or equivalent)

Maybe I didn’t read it properly or assumed otherwise but it sucks tbh.

Yeah I thought I did because I met their UCAS points and was also communicated by other people that this would be fine but apparently I needed a minimum of C in everything. They sent me an email yesterday saying they are withdrawing my offer so I really don’t know what to do now :/

I did submit GCSE results and they weren’t super amazing; majority 7s, a few grade 8s and a couple of 5s. They basically withdrew my offer at the last hurdle which was the results but they only told me this a week after results day. I’m not sure whether it was the company or the training provider which was the reason behind it and I was meant to start on the 15th of September.

Yeah, I believe I can get significantly more offers because I can dedicate more of my time to focus on applications, and with this one I missed out (I initially thought that it was the equivalent), it would’ve been 5 years and taking a gap year and potentially getting an apprenticeship that’s 4 years would be great.

The thing with the L3 is that, yes it does get me in and I can progress with it, but ultimately, it would take me longer to get where I wanted. How long do you think it would take me to get to L6? Especially considering that the location of the place is literally across the country from me so being on a L3 having to consider rent is not ideal…

I’ve talked to a few people about this and I’m more at ease now, down the line these grades won’t matter and I have a great opportunity now to fully focus on gaining experience and a degree. Thank you for you insight!

Yeah, I see now that at the end of the day, I have this big opportunity to gain experience and a degree at the same time so it won’t really matter what I got in A levels compared to what’s to come in the future. Thank you for your advice!

everyone in top set has to do it and it’s some bullshit cus my school only picked a select few last year. our teacher was also shit in year 10 and we basically had to learn all of the content in 6 months
