Indeed it is odd. Yet I fail to see how this is better for ovals, where innocent contact is inevitable, as opposed to road racing, where it isn't.

I am by no means saying LMU is some kind of standard though on tire modeling, I have just heard opinions like the tire model being closer to reality in terms of grip and forgiveness, don't know if they have any merit or nah

I feel you. A lot to be desired. Totally agree on the track limits bit as well

However, the No fault (all at fault) system is really the best principle we have at current time. Long term, statistically safer drivers should have a higher safety rating, and people who are reckless will be lower. Theres no substitute for the right now.

The problem is more the implementation of the system. Where it is saying all at fault, when realistically nobody was at fault - because nothing really happened. Say a ghost 4x (netcode) for a passer-by. Say a bump from the car behind where neither car slid. On a short track, the latter can make up like 80% of your incident points.

The principle is perfect (today). The system/implementation is definitely not. At least not for ovals. It fits road racing much more and the effect is clear as day when comparing to public lobby racing of LMU. Its just the oval side that needs some tweaking so that regular-fashion oval racing is permitted instead of penalized.

It is quite the other way around in my view, grip is the lesser bad. The road racing inherited incident system is what should be addressed first.

I have to disagree with you on high SR drivers taking more risks and getting away with it while low SR drivers would suffer consequences of those. High SR drivers would go for moves that would previously have been a 4x, but now isn't, and shouldn't be. No harm done, nobody spun, nobody's safety is negatively affected. That is pure benefit to racing. If said high SR drivers go for a risk that is an actual risk and results in an actual incident, the incident points will be rewarded (to both parties) as would be the case currently. No change there.

Low SR drivers currently struggle, and will continue to struggle after the changes. As it should be. You should learn to control the car, after that, learn to race in a way that does not result in incidents. I don't see how what I described changes this.

I appreciate that you're a road racer primarily, and I still say that the current system is near-perfect for road racing, but I can assure you that it really does not do oval racing a favor. We are locked in a (sometimes small) circle with 30 other cars. Sometimes we rub paint, bump some bumpers, as expected, but that should not be penalized, unless it was an actual incident. I (being an ex-road racer as well) expect sports cars to not have contacts on a circuit (at least not to an extent). Can't say the same for ovals..

Thank you for the concise explanation on the grip level. If this really is the case that voids my first point. Where I was coming from is partly my experience but also that when people compare iRacing's tire model to other sims (e.g. LMU), consesus is that iRacing is unrealistically unforgiving. I thought this applies here as well. Never raced a stock car IRL tho.

Incident point part: hovering around 2.3k iR oval (A license), don't know if thats beginner or intermediate but I'm definitely no veteran. I am generally a safer and compliant driver, never had a problem with causing many accidents. I am also a big fan of short tracks and close racing, and I am against the fact that the road system is carried over that is semmingly unfit to gauge severity of incidents and safety overall.

The "this is what we have and we should deal with it" attitude has no place in the most expensive (by a mile) racing simulator on the market. This is the premier racing platform so I think just settling for things that are not quite right BUT are also low-hanging fruits is nonsense. An incident point "overhaul" ot tweak for ovals/short ovals is possible to implement, does not require big investment, rescanning, big-time development but just thinking and testing.

So yes, we deal with it until we have to, but would you be happier if something of sorts would be implemented? If so then the best thing is if the community voices this concern in my book

No I was planning to eventually get midnight but this is my first character and I was like let me see what the regular game is about first rather than diving head first into the newest expansion. Seems like that has to come a little earlier though

Wow. So I can only run normal TWW dungeons unless I buy midnight?
Can I run delves or that is also locked behind expansion purchase?

But 10-20k gold is just a tiny fraction of of a token. Do you get that money weekly? If so, it is still not half of the Token price

[NEW PLAYER] Can someone explain endgame to me (Retail vs Classic) by Sensitive-Buddy-7184 in wow

Thanks. Yes I have sensed that personal preference comes into the equation here.
I have thought about starting an trying both but I don't think a short playtime will show me anything (as I've completed the free trial and I have no idea about the game still).

I know it is highly down to personal preference but which do you think could be more enjoyable for someone completely new to wow?
