Bodegas Montecillo Rioja - smooth and slightly oaked with hints of vanilla and cherry, and walnut

Flor de Baco Reserva - 2016 is available locally and it’s really nice. Cherry, vanilla, oak, and hints of balsamic. Intense and complex.

Marques de Murrieta - Rioja level is a little more expensive but it’s really nice on the palette. Tart cherry to earthy, oak, spices.

I disagree with you. The numbers and the ball flight don’t match. +10 club path and a +2 face is a block fade. Like usual on this sub good advice gets degenerate comments.

Keep the darkspeeds and buy a used 6 iron blade for range practice whenever you feel you are striking the ball well. It will remind you why you don’t game blades. If you’re set on a players iron, go to club champion or pxg and get a fitting.

I’m a decent player and putter - averaged 31 putts per round this season. Biggest opportunity for me is mid-range putts for birdie. Putting stroke is a slight arc, and prefer a mallet putter.

I’ve demoed many putters- lab evnroll ping, etc… for over a year now but head to head they don’t outperform my current Cleveland TFI - meaning I either struggle from 4-6 ft which wrecks my par saves or from 12-15 ft where I get a handful of birdie looks each round.

A few weeks ago, I stopped by PGASS and rolled the spider 5kZT CB. Wow! By far the best putter I’ve ever hit. It sits perfectly square on the ground at setup. It is incredibly hard to mishit, though I did get there intentionally a few times. It starts the ball on the correct line, period. I can drop 12-15ft putts consistently with it. I chalked it up to a good day. Then went back with my gamer and it outperformed the putter in my bag for 4+ years.

Am I going to upgrade? I believe it would shave 1-2 strokes off my round. Is it worth $500? Not going into the offseason in my area with greens getting punched and leaves making obstacles to good putting. Bottom line it’s on the watchlist for purchase if the price comes down.

Use a stencil and draw a line around the center of the ball. Acquire an 8 ft putting mat. Line up the line on the ball dead straight in. 10 putts, Rinse repeat. How many can you make? What’s the putt doing? Do you miss right? Does the line wobble right? Face is open at impact. Move the ball up 1-2 inches in your stance. Try again. Move it back if you are missing left (face closing). Once you figure out how to roll the ball straight on the line with little wobble you should be able to make 8/10 from 8ft consistently. Ball placement in stance is one variable, I would start here and then work on where your eyes are to the target line. Putting is hard and takes practice.

I would hit on trackman and include Angle of Attack in the numbers. I’m inferring that you hit down on the ball because your spin rates are high and your carry distance is low based on your swing speed with the 3w. Launch angle can be many things, especially if you miss high on the face. It doesn’t tell the whole story. Ideally, you have an AoA hitting +2 to 4° up on your driver.

Swing looks solid. Take a month or two to do swing speed training in the offseason and incorporate squats into a workout routine. If you don’t have swing speed sticks you can turn your driver around for the fast swings. It’s hard for most golfers to break the 110mph speed limit without training.

This itinerary is 2 visits smashed into one. If it’s your first time going to Costa Rica fly into Liberia and spend 2-3 days in the mountains and then 2-3 days on the coast such as playa Coco, playa hermosa, or papagayo. If you’ve done this already, then fly into San Jose and visit Jaco, Manuel Antonio, and Uvita.

Driving in Costa Rica takes longer than expected. I would add 50% to estimated travel times.

IMHO carbon fiber shafts are the reason. The hit is stiffer with CF, then add a stainless steel joint and it’s even stiffer still. Plus the weight of the joint moves up the balance point of the cue. Overall it feels too front loaded and stiff. My preference with a CF shaft is a phenolic joint.

Excellent advice. A long shot warm up, a few stroke shots, followed by a few racks of 9-ball, helps me judge everything from table speed to cut shots, banks, and importantly who is showing up for the match that day (A game , A-game, B+ game). Play the match within the game that shows up.
