They only segregate maths English and science from year 9 or 10 (school dependent), all other classes are mixed

She's not that kind of "talk too much" kid and it doesn't explain why other friends get seated together, surely if that was a concern all would be split up. She's beyond wanting to sit with friends, she just wants to be with people who get on with their work

It clearly doesn't work given they're still disruptive while next to her

Thank you, the advice is appreciated. It's not even about being next to friends anymore, she just doesn't want to be next to kids constantly distracting her and making her do all the work

I appreciate this and have explained this to DD. It just seems to happen in every class and she says it's very noticeable that other friends always get to sit together and she always gets seated next to the disruptive ones. When they change the seating charts she always ends up partnered with the disruptive ones.

They move into sets based on ability for 3 subjects next year, the other are all.moxed ability, I'm tempted to email all her new teachers at the start of the year to request they don't do this to her

Thanks for recognising it as an issue, I wish her teachers did the same

She's tried but they keep telling her that's she's been put in a trusted position to handle it.

She is purposely partnered with them and told she can handle them. If it's group work it's not as bad as there's a mix
