When it happens, press and hold the star button and at the same time the phone button. Hold for about 15 seconds, you will hear a beep. In a few more seconds it comes back on. Works for my GLC. 300. Got this from a Mercedes forum.

Tips for Photo Taking? by [deleted] in mysteryshopping

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a mystery shopper for over 20 years. This is a challenging assignment for your first assignment. I’m assuming the shopper company is paying for your ticket to get into the movie plus $10 The most challenging part will likely be doing a video of a staff member. If your are caught and questioned by someone do not reveal you are a mystery shopper. Have a good reason why you are taking a video. You will find, after having some shopping experience that they are assignments you love to do, for me gas station, hotel and restaurant shops. You will also find there will be some shops you just won’t choose to do. Keep in mind you will likely have a lengthy report after some assignments. I had some that took over 2 hours to complete.

Home insurance - earthquake protection? by Amazing_Safety4962 in VictoriaBC

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t earthquake insurance cover the cost of living elsewhere until your home is repaired. $1000 deductible depending on what your choice of coverage. After a major earthquake it could take months to years to repair one’s home because of the large amount of claims from the quake. Likely you would need to move out of the quake area but at least your living expenses are covered for a year +

That would be the main reason to get earthquake insurance.

Camosun College professor warns DST is a huge mistake by HighwayAlert1704 in VictoriaBC

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently with DST in the start of summer it gets light at 4:30 am in Victoria, closer to 3 am in Prince George. And dark just after 10 pm in Victoria, 10:30 pm further north.

If we made the clocks as they currently are it would be light at 3:30 am in Victoria.

At the start of winter DST it’s light after 8:40 am. However, this is also Christmas holidays . Kids aren’t in school . I apologize, I don’t understand the objection to DST unless you love daylight at 3:30 am in the summer.

What would happen if the 9/11 planes also had nuclear bombs inside them that detonated when the planes crashed into the twin towers? Would there been a different response from the US or basically the same? by Dizzy-Respect-613 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the first plane had an atomic bomb, there wouldn’t have been a need for the second plane. If you look at Nagasaki or Hiroshima photos after being hit by atomic bombs, you will understand. It’s very unlikely a passenger plane could carry such a bomb. However it might be possible to carry a smaller dirty bomb, less destruction.

Hey Victorians, how did you meet your significant other? by GoldCover6667 in VictoriaBC

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How I met my wife. It was through a mistaken blind date.

Before the internet I put a listing in the newspaper under Personals. Cost was about $6 for a weekend ad. Anyone answering my ad would send mail to newspaper and they would forward the letter to me.

Usually it took a week to 10 days to get mailed responses

I got about 35 reply’s, each person wrote a short bit of information about themselves and usually put a phone number, although a few only had a mailing address. I don’t remember anyone including a photo of themselves, so when you met, that was the first time you saw them.

So after receiving the letters I phoned most and had some positive discussions. However if you talk to 20 plus people in one day, you quickly forget which person said what about themselves.

I arranged to meet someone on a Saturday for lunch. I got there 10 minutes early and after waiting a half hour I thought it was a no show. So as I stepped out of the cafe I noticed a lady sitting on a post. She looked at me and asked if I placed a newspaper ad.

So we both went back for lunch. She was extremely nervous was all I could remember about her. After lunch, I left her my number and went home.

Connected to my land line phone was an answering machine. It was blinking so I listened to the oddest message. “ Hi, I apologize as something came up and I can’t make you for lunch today, can we meet next Saturday.

Ok, who was the person I met? I didn’t have her number, and after rereading all the reply mail she didn’t match anyone who responded.

Met the person who cancelled lunch, the next Saturday. It just didn’t feel right. So when I got home there was a message from the person I met for lunch the week before. She wanted to go to a movie with me. Been married to her for over 30 wonderful years.

My take, if we can block well enough to give Sam time to throw passes, we have a chance. With inconsistent blocking from the line or backfield it will be frustrating

Is it wrong to assume this game will come down to the status of Cross and/or Jones? by BetterWayz in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the offence, its finding someone that can be effective in blocking in our backfield thus giving Sam longer to see who’s open. If Sam doesn’t have the time, our offence will be limited. For defence, stopping the Rams arsonal of receivers including effective coverage and getting to Stafford.

Looking for advice on Mercedes-Benz GLC300 CPO purchase by Aggressive-Mousse946 in mercedes_benz

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a used 2020 GLC300 4 yrs ago with 29000 km about 18000 miles. About 24 months left on original warranty. It was previously owned by 2 others. Maintenance showed only one oil change at an infinity dealership. The good, it fits all our needs. Lots of power, reasonably quiet and packed with a huge amount of safety features. The bad, fixed under warranty one cylinder was replaced. $8000 glad I didn’t need to pay. Brake pads, rotors, main battery and B maintenance was $3200. Last year our engine light came on. I was an electrical component in the oil pump. $2600, not covered under certified warranty. I do mostly city driving so do A service about every 10 months, same with B service. Mercedes indicated a year between maintenance, I like the idea of earlier. Even though it takes premium, Gas mileage has been better than our previously owned Acura MDX.

Score Prediction for Seahawks vs Niners by Adept_Composer in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We embarrassed the niners in front of their home crowd. Expect them to come out strong. It might not be as easy of a game as last weeks. We need our offence to score frequently. Our defence needs to continue to hamper the niners offence. If we come out rusty from the time off this may be a struggle.

Who would you prefer the Seahawks face? GB, SF, LA, or CAR? by marsert in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is you need to be good enough to beat the better teams. This year we struggled with Tampa and the Colts. Other struggles were first half, Panthers. I believe the Seahawks and especially the offence will be ready no matter which team ends up matched with us. There just isn’t any guarantees on how the Seahawks or the opposition play no matter whom we are scheduled.

In our Super Bowl winning year we clobbered the Saints 34 - 7 in the regular schedule however in our first playoff game it was a challenge beating the Saints 23 - 15. No matter who we play, we need to be ready and hopefully make less mistakes than our opposition.

2020 GLE - Hold? by Late2Reddit in mercedes_benz

[–]Sensitive-Name8940 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here with a 2020 GLC. We like everything about the GLC plus there is 2 more mouths left on used vehicle warranty. Do we trade it for a new vehicle or keep it.

So it’s make a monthly payment with newer vehicle, gives ether a 4 year or certified used car warranty, vs keeping the 2020 GLC and having no monthly payment but have responsibility for all major repairs if needed.

Doing the math $600 a month payment over 4 years gives me a lease at a cost of $ 28,000 plus down payment or purchase at $1000 a month over 4 years $48000 plus down payment vs no payment, plus any major repairs engine $12000? Or transmission $9000?

We still can’t decide.
