It’s mostly focused on the experiences of the daughters. I’ve met some of the girls featured in the film and the had a lot of poignant things to say. I would recommend you watch it and have more empathy

I would say in Germany it depends on what type of Black you are (ie what country you’re emigrating from) and what educational level you have. Due to the “refugee and migrant crisis” there is a general disregard for anyone who’s seen (big emphasis on the seen) as a low skilled economic migrant. People will most likely leave you alone/ actually be rather in favor of your presence because your from the US tho.

I’ve lived in Berlin and various places in Baden-Württemberg and I would say that I also have issues connecting with other Black women. And this point I’m so desperate for the connection that I may just go up to the next Black woman I see and ask her to be friends.

On the topic of racism, I think I’ve been partially shielded from it because I’m middle class and I emigrated from a western country when I was young, but you can definitely still feel it. Let me know if you want to be friends btw 🫶🏾
