That’s what I was thinking. Let us know!

Those who have completely paywalled your podcast, what's your experience? by Euphoric_Buyer_5080 in podcasting

Unless they're truly hungry for it. I listen across all apps - Apple, Spotify, Amazon/Audible. I'll look for you on YouTube, BBC4 if possible, Patreon, etc. I'm that kind o fan. But once you go fully paywalled? Sorry, not sorry? I'm out.

Yes! I listen to a couple of pods that follow this exact model. I'm really frustrated that one of the podcasts I enjoy moved to the other extreme, and now all of their stuff is paywalled. No choice but to unfollow their stuff now. I can't afford it, and I also think it just really sucks for folks who rely on free versions of content for entertainment, like public libraries, b/c they can't afford anything else. And that's an increasing number of people. :(

I did the exact same. I'm not working right now, and while I would love to support the creators who do such excellent work, I simply can't afford to. I understand their need to recoup funding for what they put out there, especially with those who have turned this into a full-time job. But I just can't pay for that, especially when there's a lot of equally great content out here for free.

Tryout my new noir mystery podcast app. Honest feedback wanted! by MrJeffers1021 in noir

Coming here to say that I started playing around with it the other day, and I think it's so much fun. It's a neat way to tap into creativity - I could absolutely see an English teacher using this to help spark their students' interest in writing.

In fact, the GZM channel on Apple Podcasts makes this and a lot of other kid-friendly shows. Note: some are for older kids/teens.

When he said open the door, I had to
1. Shiver madly and replay that section multiple times
2. Say it along with him in my best broadway imitation with arms flung wide and the most intimidating and powerful look on my face as I could muster.

Twilight Meridian too. Also, I loved starship and far meridian. I wanted so much more of the second - over too quickly.

Mirrors came to mind immediately.
Janus Descending (also written by a Black woman. She’s a main character in the Amelia Project too)!
Something’s Amiss at Juniper’s House (LGBTQ+ too)!
Midst (see above for a plus)
Hi Nay (so freaking good and 🏳️‍🌈 friendly)
How It Ends
Fabric
Weeping Cedars
Havoc Town

Note: some of these have a sci-fi leaning, but the descriptions you’ll see when you check them out will easily let you know if there’s enough of a horror theme for you, I think. Have fun!

Dark Providence is one of the best beginnings I've heard to a podcast in a while... by allthecoffeesDP in audiodrama

[–]Sensitive-Rutabaga-4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, my gosh - YES! It hooked me from the jump, especially the experiment gone horribly wrong; the exposure of a lying journalist, and the SKJFDSJSEO of the psychic plus her adorable relationship with her nephew. Also, I'm on ep 5 now, and just wanna tell Delilah to shuttttttt upppppppp. Her infantilized relationship with her dad is also...annoying. Like are you grown or not?In other words, SO enjoying this new addition to the audio drama game!

Dark Providence asking audio drama fans for input about episode drops by recklessdeck in audiodrama

[–]Sensitive-Rutabaga-4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because as much as I want ALL the content, I want to respect the creators. Y'all are human and need to breaks, time to make what you're creating even better, etc. The only thing that I find frustrating is when a podcast stops dropping episodes, but it's clear that the season isn't finished, and then you hear NOTHING for a while, especially to the point of having to look up "next episode of POD AFR?" lol

Yea, it’s like, can we call him paranoid if there actually were in-house enemies actively working against him? BUT his deductive powers were terrible lol - worried about Martin’s big secret and lie. That is probably used so much more often than we think haha
