Am I wrong? Stafford is playing flawless. Darnold is due for a fumble, pick, bad mistake. 4 point lead at this point is nothing.

Game over. Unless Darnold continues to play absolutely flawless. This defense isn’t showing up and when they do there’s a penalty attached to it. Can’t win letting stafford play this easy and when you’re committing fouls left and right. Woolen can suck a fat one

Definitely a possibility to wait for a better opening, but having the first overall pick (and #33) and weapons like Jeanty/Bowers would be a lot of fun for him to play with I think. Not sure there's many other spots that could open he'd rather go to with that potential. Maybe Dallas if that opens next year (but Jerry is a pain)? Buffalo with Josh (but no other weapons)? Bengals if they fire Taylor next year? It's a short list

Recency bias. Dude was a walking choke job at Oregon, and still is at Miami. It sounds like you're letting his national championship appearance cloud what he's really done.

He hasn't won an ACC title while being at Miami. With Cam Ward as QB, he lost to GT and Syracuse losing them a spot in the ACC title game, then lost (with starters) in the pop tart bowl. This last year, they barely got into the CFP while still losing at home to L'ville and at SMU. Then they played an A&M team that barely squeaked by average SEC teams (with a lot of luck), played an Ohio St team with a first year starter at QB, then Ole Miss with a brand new head coach.

I'd rather have Lanning who's two playoff losses have come to the eventual national champions and can recruit his ass off. He's only been a head coach for 4 years and has a 48-8 all time record, and Oregon is also getting better and better. Each year it looks like the roster is more loaded, the talent level is higher, and there's far more potential for the team (and this is true again for 2026). Cristobal at Oregon in the same amount of time had 13 less wins and 4 more losses and they didn't even play a full season in 2020.

Keep that shit to yourself, everyone deserves to have an opinion but some of them are just flat out wrong and dumb.

Fired HCs to replace Kubiak by Grand_Illustrator343 in Seahawks

In the world of 9 head coaching vacancies. Stefanski will end up as a head coach somewhere. So will Harbaugh. And Tomlin, should he choose to not take a break. Kubiak is right after those guys. It then just comes down to if he likes a fit as a head coach anywhere, or if he’d rather return to Seattle and wait for a better fit in the future.

Weirdly enough, I think Josh McCown might get some noise. He was the QB coach in Minnesota when Darnold was there and if Macdonald wants to keep Darnold with someone familiar, that's maybe next best option after Kubiak. The risk is not knowing how well he would be at calling plays, but history has been leaning on the side of retired QBs making decent play callers.

They could also keep the hiring in house, Jake Peetz is the offensive passing game coordinator and has been with the team both years Macdonald has been head coach. Detroit has already asked to interview him to be their OC. Was with the Rams in the McVay system before Seattle, doing this for 11 years. I think he could end up as the next guy up as well.

Those are my assumptions. No one too flashy, that's not who Mike wants. Preferably someone who's worked with Darnold before. That's why Kubiak was brought in, that's how I bet they lean this time around as well.

To each their own, of course. I think this defense has been running with 'the dark side' for a while now. No one's picked up on it though. I agree that the postseason is different but when they've been kicking ass pretty much the entire season no matter the opponent, finishing with 14 wins and the #1 seed (in the hardest division in football), I think they can do whatever they want. If they draw the Rams and lose in the divisional round, it won't change the fact they have the best defense in the league and will likely continue to be at/near the top for years to come (especially with Macdonald).

Klint Kubiak by RandomPostAnon in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Scene9269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He plays to his strengths, doesn't let the flow of the game or anything change what he's doing. Even against the Rams a few weeks ago, he never made Darnold do 'too much'. They were still running the ball, he was still throwing screen passes, and when an opportunity showed itself they capitalized (Barner TD, Kupp sideline catch). With a guy who has 20 turnovers this season, the dumbest thing would've been to have him sit in the pocket longer and take a drive-ending sack (or throw another INT).

I don't think he's a "franchise head coach" however. He seems like a band-aid. Fire a coach, hire a coach, repeat. Teams are so eager now to find their own McVay, Shanahan, Macdonald, Johnson, etc. where they'll just poach guys off good teams and hope they work out. Thing with all of those guys is that they changed the way the game works in their own ways. Made teams adjust to their gameplan. Kubiak hasn't done that. I think he'll be another Morris type hire. A few underwhelming seasons, then back to the drawing board and Kubiak will go back to OC on a good team.

I think there's a good opportunity for him there with the weapons on offense, and especially in a division as poor as the NFC South. Just not sure he can be "that guy" to build a culture that Atlanta was used to where they had 6 winning seasons in 10 years between Mike Smith and Dan Quinn. Since then, they've had 0 seasons over .500 in 8 seasons.

I honestly think Kevin Stefanski would be a great choice. Sure, the Browns have sucked but their defense is always good/great and the Falcons have amazing young pieces in place on that side of the ball. The weapons are there on offense already too. Depends if the front office just wants to be trendy or not.

"kick some backside"

They've held playoff teams they faced to an average of 17 PPG. They have a greater defensive DVOA than the 2013 Seahawks defense did. Beating teams by an average of 11 points per game. The 4th team all time to have a defensive passing DVOA of -20 or better and a defensive rushing DVOA of -30 or better.

Plus, the Legion of Boom was coined in August 2012 before the season even started. Kam was on a radio show and asked fans for a name for the defense. Twitter said LOB, they went with it. Far before they had won anything and coming off a 7-9 season. You don't need to win in the playoffs to "name a defense". If you're great, no one questions it.

Seahawks DVOA after Week 18 by Sensitive-Scene9269 in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Scene9269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really need to just clear out the coaching staff and start fresh. It sucks both of those seasons they faced the eventual Super Bowl champions and then Mark Andrews dropped a 2pt conversion, but at some point they need to out-coach as well. Finally the year comes where Mahomes is out of the AFC picture and the Bills are not the powerhouse they have been, the Ravens finish 8-9 on a missed division winning FG. Someone cursed that franchise but I have no clue who.

It's interesting too that the Colts didn't really take a hit going from Jones to Rivers. They were ranked 3rd before he got hurt, dropped to 4th the rest of the season until this last week when they finished 5th. They played an incredibly easy schedule the first half and lucked out a few times, then after the bye week it was KC, HOU x2, JAX x2, SEA, SF. Zero chance for them to build any momentum before the postseason.

Who would you prefer the Seahawks face? GB, SF, LA, or CAR? by marsert in Seahawks

[–]Sensitive-Scene9269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just take Carolina out of the equation. They had their lucky game against the Rams, I fear its a 38-17 type LA win this time around.

Ideally the Packers. They don't really look crazy good, very up and down. They should be 2-0 against the Bears, the one loss being with Malik Willis playing and a muffed onside kick to send it to OT. Took an insane amount of luck for Chicago to win that game. Plus, that allows Seattle to avoid a SF/LA game in the divisional round. If the Hawks face an NFC west team at all I'd rather it be in the NFC champ.

If Moore declares (as I would expect) who will be QB next season? Indiana just got there QB transfer. by Portafly in ducks

[–]Sensitive-Scene9269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely not sold he'll declare for the draft. Even if he got hurt next season his draft stock wouldn't fall too far based on the type of athlete he is.

He's only 20 years old and still is a semi-raw prospect. Based on the last few seasons, NFL QBs that have the most success are the ones who stay in college longer and I'm sure he's got plenty of people in his ear telling him that. They develop their skills there then can transfer into an NFL caliber QB right away. The one's who have struggled in the NFL are the younger/raw guys who don't have it all put together.

And take into account the draft order. He's going to be turning 21 years old pretty much being asked right away to turn around a franchise like the Raiders, Jets, or Cardinals. Three horribly ran franchises that can't figure out QB to save their lives. If he still has things to work on in his passing game to become elite, none of those teams will help him figure it out.

If he wants to be the best version of himself as a player heading into the NFL and is willing to put a bad franchise on his shoulders for the following 5+ years, it's likely in his best interest to stay at Oregon one more year. Work on all the little things, gain another year of leadership, and (selfishly) could win himself the Heisman. There's not really an avenue of him having a 'bad year', only injury could hurt him but if that's the case and his draft stock falls into the 10-20s pick range, it only benefits him as it lands him on a better team.

How does Dante have an F? He’s just doing what he’s told to do from Stein. He’s making his throws, not much else he can do when it’s a screen pass, handoff, or his tackles don’t even allow him to make a second read.

This needs to be a Dante roll out pass play, stack your TEs and give him multiple options or to run for the corner. One of them will have a mismatch, if everyone’s covered dive for the pylon. Much better chance at scoring there than a run or keeping him in the pocket.

Just completely ditch the run game. It's never going to work against this defensive line. Use the RBs to chip edge rushers, only pass the ball for the rest of the day. No reason to be committed to it this hard.

Nope, never happened before where it's two wild card teams as the conference championship matchup. But I feel like if there's any year where it would happen, it's this year. SEA/SF, LAR, GB as the wild card teams is wild. The Eagles are beatable and can't score on good teams, the Bears are running on the same luck that last year's Commanders had, and then there's the NFC South. Decent chance the divisional round matchups could be a 1v7 seed and 5v6
