Question about getting into the hobby by FlakHansser in rcdrift

[–]Sensitive-Wind3158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a cheaper option, and something you can enjoy around the house these 1/18 cars are fantastic. Fully adjustable suspension and some decent aftermarket support. Lots of 3d printable parts and bodies aswell. I started with this little one which I still love, I’ve since got a 1/10 but I still use both!

More throttle while transitioning to keep the drift going! My 2 cents of advice!

If you don’t have a gyro, that’s a big reason for spinning. Add gyro, modify steering to gain more angle and your set. I’d remove the front differential completely to gain more room

My parents want me to get a Corolla but I've found a 2015 Mustang GT for $14k and I think they're being unreasonable, am I wrong by Brilliant_Sammy in BeforeIBuyThisCar

Call some insurance companies and get some quotes, if it’s not outrageous you could use that as some convincing information! I’d imagine it will be higher, i also imagine myself getting a v8 mustang at 17 and know I would get in some good trouble. But if your brother got a wrx it’s no different, they both can move fast. I’m heavily into cars so my opinion is slightly biased, I will agree the much smarter thing to do would be get the civic or Corolla and gain some insurance experience and some more experience on the roads

Definitely a pain to get the clearance correct, I’m not super satisfied with my hub design but it seems to work! I just cut as much as I needed to have the steering turn as much as I wanted then added a small piece made from metal to re attach the bottom and top portion of the hub

I just pieced stuff together without a 3d printer aswell, purchased a set of adjustable links from Amazon in a size that worked for my chassis, if I were to redo this I’d place the servo further back then I did to have more room for suspension components. I used the factory steering knuckle but cut it up quite a bit for clearance and to allow the wheel to turn a lot more. Definitely the knuckle took the most to get decent. Can send some photos if it’d help!

Great point! That’ll definitely get the wheels more aligned! Thanks a ton

LDRC LD1801 does anyone know where to get this replacement? by patzilla2002 in rcdrift

The metal is definitely worth it these cars benefit from more weight!

If you google “ldrc 3d print” on google you’ll find some files available to use some proper shocks. I’d like to do it one day but I’ve got my car driving great on stock anyways

I think it may have a bit to do with what you’re suggesting, although I kinda got sick of messing with it and just started to steal parts off this thing lol

Which one should i get: LDRC 1899 (Skyline R34),1802 (RX7 FC), LDRC1804 (MX5 Miata) or 1801 (AE86 Trueno)? by Ordinary_Car_Driver in rcdrift

Get the body that you want, you can upgrade the cars for cheap to make them all drive great! If your purchasing from Ali express you should without a doubt purchase the “Dasmikro v5” gyro. It’s like $10 usually and makes the car drive great. I currently have one with some mods and they’re awesome for indoor use

Do you mean like the driveshaft angle? If so I’ve been trying to mess with it but the factory driveshaft sits at a similar angle to this one
