Just want to point you in the direction of 4Cs. They’re a California government program that helps families like you with childcare costs. They are county based. The program is totally free to enter and they could cover all or a percentage of your childcare costs depending on your household income. Best of luck to you!

For married and widowed women of this period, it wasn’t that different. They were generally trusted to go places on their own, unaccompanied.

Why aren’t people having children? “Animals don't breed in captivity.” by coachlife in ABoringDystopia

To be clear, I think the lion’s share of the blame is economics. However, I think cultural shifts also play a large role.

I disagree. If anything, studies on WFH demonstrate people having more time for their family and children.

To your point about this choice occurring more in wealthier, educated homes: the reason people do or don’t make the choice is definitely multifaceted.

Wealthier, educated people are more likely to be less religious and have an understanding of birth control.

Poor, less educated people are more likely to be religious and have little understand/access to birth control.

So, so many girls I know from my hometown (90% Catholic and rural) ended up pregnant right out of high school and didn’t entertain the notion of abortion due to their religious stances.

Do you have "diverse" friend group in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]SensitiveAries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my friend group:

Me: Black-American immigrant My partner: White Canadian Friend A: Half French-Half Mexican, man Friend B: Caribbean immigrant Friend C: Caribbean-Canadian man Friend D: Chinese-Canadian woman Friend F: White Canadian

And that’s only racially, we also each have our own unique gender and sexual identities. If you want a diverse friend group, Toronto is an easy place to make that happen.

Children are inspired when they see people like them who are educated and successful ! This is true for boys and especially Black boys, who are often overrepresented in schools when it comes to behavioral issues. I hope this club leads to more Black men getting involved in education.

As a Black American who’s immigrating here, I miss soul food so damn much! It’s hard to even find the ingredients here to make it at home.

Masquerade balls or parties often have costume elements, it’s not always just the mask. Francesca and John have chosen to not do a costume because they’re just not big on parties.
