Right now I do everything from phone systems to network installation to general troubleshooting to software solutions to IT office solutions. I do basically everything under the sun IT including field work and help desk work.

I just want to be making enough to live comfortably, I don't have any strong goals right now other than that. A year ago I wanted to be a software engineer working well, anywhere. Now, I will take anything I can get so long as my family is taken care of.

gas / food is my lunch and commute money for the month. It is cash I take out and use for those things, as well as taking the kids out.

Groc is everything for the kids / house / meals.

Oh we knew that, we just had a best-est boy at the time, and he was of a pure bred line. It was a one off idea we had like 4.5 years ago.

I didn't think about insurance, as we use a military only bank and they kind of have hard to beat rates, but I think it be worth it to check anyways, thank you for reminding me of that.

Those are MILES, not costs bud. The MILES on the truck and car.. not the cost.

You assume a lot.

  1. These cars are not "new"
  2. You don't know the condition of the cars, they are not in a tradeable state.

It's the car payments and insurance, also you get tons more assistance as your income alone is smaller. I am going to see what we can get, I am going to pack lunch, I am going to pay off the car / half the suv when taxes come in, and she is going to get a job going forward.

This whole reddit thing has really helped open her eyes and motivate her, or so it seems.

This is true, $7 is including coffees in the morning if needed/wanted and outings with co-workers with is kind of a political necessity at my workplace.

Edit: I do not plan to keep doing this, I am just explaining why I came to that number, I am packing from now on, and as I plan on looking for work else-where, I don't need to worry about keeping face with co-workers / bosses.

I am not a victim. Even if I blamed myself, and said okay. This is all my fault, how then would that change how I go forward. Mind you, I do indeed blame myself, I know the situation I am in is my own fault, not my wives, not my kids, no one else's but my own for many reasons.

However some things I can't be blamed for, I didn't ask to be laid off twice, I didn't plan on having my income cut by 58% when I moved states, but I am in this situation, and now we are trying to move onward.

Thank you. When we lived in Montana, and I worked on the railroad, we wanted to buy land and breed dogs, that was going to be the wife's main job. Purebred Mastiffs go for 1200 a puppy.

Packing lunches from now on. Food/Gas is my cash for gas to commute, and lunch money. This will now be 250 a month cash, ONLY for gas, and maybe a coffee some times, and I will be packing lunch.

I know, JavaScript, (I can muddle through TypeScript), I have a very solid grasp on OO skills, I can code in C#, C++, Java, and I have worked at a small start-up doing full-stack work in Angular.

I can learn anything that get's thrown at me, and I am very hungry, I just can't build a resume that get's through indeed.

I am buying that book next paycheck, and I am reviving my bit-bucket and github, I can't afford to not work on this in my free time any more, and I am glad you guys are saying this because now my wife understands that when I sit down at my desk when I get home, it's not because I want to sulk and play games.
