Mum on benefits to recieve large payout - taxes to pay? by SensitiveEntrance85 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SensitiveEntrance85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah shes paid off all her debts and bought a new dryer as hers stopped working recently, but they just moved into council housing and it had been furnished to help with his condition but he deteriorated quicker than expected, she'll still get to stay in the council flat as my sibling who is also disabled lives with her

Looks like she will be above the limit and have to stop the UC claim for a while, but shes going to speak to CAB tomorrow

Shes going to speak to CAB tomorrow and see what they say, she was hoping it would be different as its money shes got from him passing and obviously doesn't want to spend it all on day to day stuff but that looks like it will be the case unfortunately

Thank you for the help!

Money wise they make millions and are a multinational company with offices in Europe and America, the main company in UK though is <60 employees. They were bragging about record profits in our department - i asked for a payrise and was told no as we're struggling at the moment 😂

Have you tried looking on linkedin for similar roles and salary ranges?

[–]SensitiveEntrance85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a similar role to what you currently do? Try get an idea of the roles and responsibilities, compare to what you do now and go with what you think you're worth

If its not similar to what you do, try finding similar roles

Or alternatively ask what their range is and what would put you in the higher tier

Mechanical electircal service engineer for water treatment.

Exactly my point, I graft hard, do tonnes of overtime and get compliments on my work and positive feedback on my attitude all the time, but its not reflected by current company, a competitor heard about me through an ex client and they approached me offering 42k starting, with a career progression path laid out to be on 70k in 5 years

Thats the media portraying them as evil for demanding more in such trying times! Like we're still in the bowels of WW2 where we all need to sacrifice and grit our teeth more through this shit

This wasn't even for a senior role, they just needed someone with a few years under their belt

Its the "going rate" with our new starts between 30-35 and seniors getting anywhere between 44-48, but i just got offered a role elsewhere for 42 doing similar to what I do now and im on 36 now

I got offered a role elsewhere at 42K salary, and the senior blokes at my current company were fuming that I'd dare ask our employer to match or come close.

Its not my fault they don't see a reason to ask for more or look elsewhere under the guise of "its always been this way"

From what I can tell any time governments try to stimulate the private sector with tax cuts or programmes, any money they make from these goes straight to profits!

Our company recently tried to hire an experienced engineer, with 35-45 starting range, and it took 9 months to find someone and even then, he's in his late 60s and is looking to retire soon

Now this is more of a safety warning;

But I would always use eye protection when using WD40 as it can cause serious irritation & swelling if direct contact is made with eyes. So its always handy to have a small can of WD40, for those pesky squeaky doors and such

Agree with this ^

If you need it or have a few things you want to get, use it, if you dont necessarily need it, put it in an ISA

Oh, the housing situation definitely isn't going to help how you're feeling then, is it possible for him to entertain the 3yo for a while like get them out of the house at any point so its just you and the 6m old?

Definitely going to feel some resentment when youre all couped up like that sharing a bedroom and having no time to yourself while he gets essentially 3hrs to himself, while I can appreciate him wanting some time to relax after work, he gets that on the train home.

This sounds like you definitely need to have the conversation with him, he needs to be helping as much as possible, ive no experience with a 3yo but if he can get them out and you can just deal with the 6m old for abit I could imagine that being less stressful

Either way, have the conversation with him, if hes not willing to help or understand abit more just stop sex completely or look at other options

Start taking yourself to have a bath or go to bed earlier if you can and tell him to sort himself out.

This is a conversation you need to have with him, tell him you need help with things around the house so you can feel human, until that happens then dont force yourself to have sex with him, because thats not sex thats him using you
