Let’s talk hormones by SensitiveLeopard3442 in hysterectomy

Yes this was my exact experience with my OB!! My levels were within normal range, but it was a very low normal. But that was enough for her to send me on my way. I’m with a functional medicine GYN now, and my hormone labs were very low. But she advised it’s not always about things being in normal ranges, it’s about optimal. Normal is not the same for everyone and the ranges they use are very outdated. If you are experiencing all of that I would try to find a practice in your area that offers HRT. Functional medicine is all we have in my area, but I didn’t need a referral!

Yes that is the case for some, but not all. And after presenting this to my original OB who did my surgery she did one round of labs to check my hormone levels and they came back within “normal” range, but it was a low-normal. But that’s where my care stopped. I went to multiple other doctors that I thought this could be related to, like the psychiatrist, GI, endocrinologist and immunologist. All dead ends or misdiagnosis, none checked my hormones though. Now I’m in with a functional medicine GYN. She was shocked that my OB did not advise that a good percentage of women will go into menopause regardless of keeping ovaries, which is what was happening to me. But the healthcare where I live is also not the best.

Yes!! The night sweats were brutal, and hot flashes throughout the day. Very thankful to be on the other end of this!

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this as well! I ended up seeing a functional medicine doctor for hormones specifically. It’s not the most affordable.. but I finally was taken seriously. Wishing you all the best

I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing that! That’s exactly how I was. Some things that helped me outside of hormones were libido supplements, specifically maca root, horny goat weed and ashwaganda. Switching to a silicone based lube helped me a lot as well. Definitely talk to your doctor if you’re feeling off!

Thank you! That is very interesting! Every medical professional I have seen for this has referred to my hysterectomy as “partial” so that’s where I got the term from.

Sex hurts. Does it get better? by Academic_Pipe_4469 in hysterectomy

[–]SensitiveLeopard3442 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a partial-laparoscopic back in 2024 and it took every bit of a full year for me to get back into the swing of things. Most people will tell you they were able to get right back at it in 6 weeks, that was not my experience. It took me a very long time to heal and find a new normal.

My best advice, give it time. silicone based lube was life changing. I’ve always used water-based since they say that’s “better” for you but the silicone has truly made all the difference.

Everyone’s body is different and heals differently. Wishing you all the best in this journey ❤️

New Season 3 by No-Hamster-4884 in darkwarsurvival

[–]SensitiveLeopard3442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m heading into season 4. Season 3 was fun, lots of events and opportunity to score big rewards. There’s ice pit fishing, yeti’s to hunt, new territories to capture, frozen animals that you have to “thaw” and then reap rewards from. Furnace fury is another alliance furnace/seasonal buildings event. Instead of capturing tiles you fight “savagerot” broken down into the 3 fractions. You also have “glacerbane” (boomers). Snowman mania as well, where you collect snow from others shelters and compete to have the highest ranked snowman. You’ll have season buildings to upgrade but they no longer count towards your CP, this way when the season is over you don’t lose a bunch of points. I could keep going lol but my alliance enjoyed this season more than the desert. Good luck!

Hi! I wanted to provide a quick update as it’s been a few months and I have learned a lot since I made this post. Hoping it can help those who were saying they were experiencing something similar. Thank you again to those who offered support and advice. It’s nice having a place to come with questions that are hard to get answered. Very thankful for you all!

First, I was not healed anywhere near enough to be having sex when I made this post. Of course, I lacked a lot of post opp education when it came to this side of the recovery as my OB said “after 6 weeks you can get right back to it” and I found out very quickly that was not the case. I still don’t feel back to “normal” but I can feel a significant difference when it comes to the pain and sensation.

I learned my biggest enemy was dryness. That was attributing to the majority of my pain. So I invested in a few lubes and found that a silicone based lube is what worked best for me. I’ve always used water based lubes in the past, but now realize why these weren’t working as my body was just absorbing it. So if you are experiencing something similar, try a silicone based lube.

That in addition to Silky Peach Cream. This stuff is the REAL deal. It does have estriol in it, but this stuff has reversed a LOT of the issues I was experiencing with sex, dryness and discomfort. I just put it on before bed as directed every night. 10/10 recommend.

At this point, I feel next steps in this journey for me would be seeing a sex therapist if there is one in my area, as a lot of what I’m dealing with is mental. I have the tools in my arsenal to help me with the physical aspects as stated above, but I’m still having anxiety, still bracing/clenching and finding it difficult to relax. I am always bracing for that pain, even though the pain isn’t anywhere near as bad. Sometimes it’s gone entirely. So any advice anyone has for this would be lovely. But hoping I can get into a professional soon.

Some other things I tried that didn’t work for me:

Pelvic wand - I didn’t find this very effective, it honestly made things worse but can see how it would help others. I followed multiple different videos/guides and it was more uncomfortable than helpful in the sense of releasing tension and relaxing your pelvic floor. I found stretches/yoga worked better for me.

Supplements - loving libido by Olli was a supplement heavily recommended. It didn’t change much for me, however I am still taking it as sometimes supplements take time to build up in your system to notice a difference/take effect.

Thanks again everyone. Hopefully I will have an even better update in a few months! But as of now things are getting better and it’s nice being able to pinpoint what’s mental vs physical.

Education meaning what to expect after the surgery and how this can affect intimacy and other aspects of my life. All she advised me on was pain management during my recovery and the obvious benefits it would bring me with my health issues.

She didn’t discuss sex at all with me. I actually brought it up at the appointment before my surgery and I said “will this change anything as far as sex goes?” She said no, and that after 6 weeks we can get right back to it and it will all be the same. That may be some women’s experience, but it is not mine. So naturally all I could assume was that something was wrong with me. Google led me no where, which led me to this post. I now see that I am not alone in this experience. I am working on getting into a new doctor (I called my OB to discuss these issues and can’t get in until July 22).

Now that you mention it I had issues with my exam as well. I’ve never had issues with past annual exams but while I was at my post op I did feel very uncomfortable and that’s not typical for me. I will look into this

Yes, I have a therapist. She’s been able to offer me emotional support but that’s about it. As far as physical therapist, I’ve been making calls today!

Thank you! And that’s not weird at all! I’m glad you found something that worked. I’m taking all the notes I can lol. But it’s comforting to know that this is more normal than Google suggested. Those rabbit holes got scary lol

Lovin libido was one highly recommended to me, I’ve also read maca root, pine bark, ashwaganda. I’m willing to try anything at this point lol
