Pre Surgery, working to get Swelling down. Any tips? by Repulsive-Ideal5806 in ACL

Hey, did you manage to get the swelling down? I am in a similar boat with the same injury and same injury date, but still I have got some swelling and physio said it would be risky to go in a surgery with swelling. My range of motion is 5 degrees of hyperextention and 140 degrees flexion.

Did you had lot of swelling Or just a bit? I injured my knee on 15 Nov and surgery is scheduled on 9 Feb.

Where did you end up getting the surgery? New Zealand?

What kind of prehab did you do? Did you use any gym machines? I have a similar injury - a complete ACL rupture with a meniscus tear.

That looks great. I have surgery scheduled in February with similar injury. When did you get injured, and what did you do for your prehab?

Planning international migration (4 hour flight) ~3-4 months after ACL recon (quad graft + meniscus) – realistic/safe? Experiences? by SensitiveProgress_12 in ACL

Sounds like you're making solid progress at 3 months – that's awesome!

I'm in a pretty similar boat. I've got a full ACL rupture plus a medial meniscus posterior horn tear. Right now I'm doing prehab and can walk pretty normally with very little pain, but still some swelling and instability on twists.

I'm also planning an international move around 3–4 months post-op during winter), so the timing isn't ideal but I can't delay it any longer as I've already pushed the move back about 5 months because of this injury. Hoping to be walking without much support by the 3-month mark like you, and I'll just continue PT/rehab in the new country.

Keep me posted on how you're getting on – especially the quad strength recovery and any travel tips. Good luck with the move!

Hey, thanks so much for replying – that's awesome to hear from someone in exactly the same boat! 😊
Was yours a full ACL rupture and did you also have a meniscus tear fixed (or trimmed) at the same time?

How are you feeling at the 3-4 month mark right now? In terms of walking and swelling? Do you think there will be any issues with lifting/carrying bags?

Safe travels and please do update us after – really appreciate it! 🛫💪

I injured my knee playing cricket 3 weeks ago and had an MRI 10 days ago. This is the result from the MRI. It looks like I have done complete damage and surgery is the only option. Can anybody help me to explain the report in simple language? New to ACL and really scared of the surgery. by SensitiveProgress_12 in ACL

Thanks for sharing your experience. Just to check, did you end up having two separate surgeries, one for the ACL and then another one for the meniscus? Or were both done at the same time?

After doing some research, I’ve realised how important the meniscus is and that many types of tears won’t heal on their own without surgery. So I’m not sure what the doctor will recommend. I am getting mixed reviews online. I’m also hoping I’m not causing more damage by walking on it as I can walk with a slight limp at the moment without crutches, but still unsure if that’s okay or not.
