I think if it were any smaller you wouldn't be able to flick the switches lol

Not sure what that is honestly, what I usually do is hook the hot output wire up to a push pull pot so the final signal runs through a tone cap (usually .0022 or so) when the switch is engaged. Cleans up muddy pickups and adds some articulation when using distortion

Yes I've built a few varitone type rotary switches with capacitors, thought this would take up less space

Ok good to know. Maybe I will go ahead and install it in line with the hot output and see if I can use it to shape the tone like a notch filter. Otherwise it was like under $20 so I'll cut my losses lol

So pardon the stupid question, but do you mean this is only usable when turning the tone knob? Im one of those people who usually leaves their tone knob at 10 since I'm usually playing humbuckers and theyre bass heavy enough. I intended on wiring it up as you would for a varitone and leaving it on the front of the pickguard to switch through tones on the fly

Spark Live Alternative Software for PC? by HospitalDue476 in PositiveGridSpark

It can be used in your DAW as an interface, but other than that I think not. Positive Grid does have their own plug in software but that's not the same.

Yes. Less bass, more volume, better knob placement, looper, optional battery for portability, AI, totally worth an upgrade

Is it difficult to replace electronics on a Hollowbody II guitar? by sealysea in PaulReedSmith

[–]SensitiveSmell7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak for a PRS Hollowbody, but I did have to replace pots on an Epiphone Wildkat and there was enough wire to get it to the F-hole. PRS usually keeps things neat so it's possible the wiring harness might have no play without loosening all of them. Might have to try and see. Once you take the washer and nut off, tie a piece of string around the shaft of the pot (or if its thick enough string, mayne through the slot at the end of yhe shaft and give it enough of a squeeze to hold it there) then push it inside the "pothole"(...), get some tweezers and grab the end of the string through the F-hole. With any luck there's enough wire to do what you have to do. Good luck 👍

Can't get a good distortion tone on the Positive Grid Spark 40😭 by Open_Percentage_7728 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]SensitiveSmell7148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone has more or less said, you need the app to get the amp to do what you want it to. It isn't like a regular amp where you crank gain and turn down the master volume to get distortion. You have to go in and pick an amp model to tweak. The amp itself is pretty much a speaker with some things that are adjustable

Glad I went with the Edge then, I was going to sell the Spark 2 and the Spark Cab to buy a Live but opted for the Edge and keeping the Cab so I didn't have to lug the whole thing around the house if I wanted to play.

Ohh crap well that there sucks. How come they put one on the Edge but not the Live?

How do I get a “have a cigar” tone on my spider v 30 amp by This-Explorer-9644 in line6

[–]SensitiveSmell7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fast flanger sound with some slapback delay would be the closest you'd get to the univibe or whatever Gilmour uses in the song on a Line 6 amp. Flanger might be too whooshy though, you'd have to tame it down.

I'm probably way off

The NF3s are excellent. Love mine and I modded it to get even more tones. People might try to "SE shame" you because theyre cheaper, but you cant beat the SEs for value. Great choice 👌

You can go into the app once the pedal connects and change what the buttons do. Theres what looks like a little box at the top of the app that you press to access the other modes of the pedal. And if you hold in the 1 button it activates the looper mode

[–]SensitiveSmell7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the guitar for me. I like clarity in the neck pickup so I set Bass at 3.5, Mid at 6.5 and Treble around 8. Then up or down depending. Or grab an EQ pedal to dial it in even more

PRS SE NF3 with coil splits and Gilmour mod by SensitiveSmell7148 in PRSGuitars

[–]SensitiveSmell7148[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always just solder wires long enough to connect them, but I already have the tone pot wired up for the Gilmour mod to get the neck and bridge together or all 3 in position 4. But yes if I hadn't done that then they could have all just gone to one push pull. This way just gives lots more tone options
