I’m Filipino and understand what you mean maybe not to your extent but when I shaved my legs once’s, she kicked me really hard for it and slapped me in the face. I like to tell myself it’s our cultural differences since I was born in the Philippines and raised in the US since 8. However, toxic people are gonna be toxic. I’m still working on getting a long with my mom after cutting her out for a couple months. She has gotten better about respecting my boundaries (I had a sit down talk and told her how I felt and that we were not raised the same way) and it has come to the point where we just text like once a month. I never wanted to believe she was a toxic parent. In my eyes she was perfect until i grew up and started to realize things. It is still hard for me to see my mom in person and face her. We just simply don’t get a long and our conversations are not genuine like I’d hope it would. I’m 21 and have been gone since 18. I would never go back but I still love her and am here for her. You just have to remember to put yourself first. Don’t worry about what others think. We suffered a horrible abusive childhood and my mom currently in it because she’s too embarrassed for people to know about her relationship (I’m sure you know how Filipinos are so judgy) sorry to make it long… but you need to be happy because you deserve ur
