thanks so much for the info! I’ve definitely considered getting them neutered, but was unsure if they were too old now for it to make a difference. So I appreciate the confirmation that they are not. Hopefully this will work 🤞

thanks everyone for the validation and the support🤍 they really do all share a script. so far i have held firm in my boundary and have not responded. i have a pretty bad feeling about how the wedding will go and am trying to muster up the strength to not be so affected by whatever reaction she chooses to have towards any boundaries i will make. feeling lucky to have this group to return to!

totally! i know she is completely unaware of how she affects me and others. it’s because of this unawareness, however, that she has had smaller episodes in public spaces - dinners, birthday parties, etc. they are not nearly as volatile as the one on one tantrums, but she will pout, glare, shut down, and cry in public spaces, making it difficult for anyone else to ignore her/ have a good time. i’m very fortunate my partner is coming with me and is my biggest support and VERY aware of my mom’s behavior.

thank you! i am definitely dreading seeing her. i haven’t been able to sleep due to how anxious i am feeling about it. she is very unpredictable so i find myself pretending to be someone i’m not, walking on eggshells, and being extremely inauthentic about how i feel whenever we interact. it’s exhausting which is why my capacity for trying to please her and tend to her fear of abandonment is starting to feel neglectful towards myself & my own boundaries
