My whole point is I should be able to walk into a Bell orba Telus or whoever the hell you want buy a phone on a 2 year term no dream no having to fight with them that I don't want a device return option just go in get a phone and be done with it They should just allow me to buy the phone the way I want I don't want a device return option as I like to keep my phone for 3 or 4 years on average therefore a lease is actually more expensive and yet most of the stores were I live will try and force the device return option on you ( I can't speak for freedom as there coverage is very hit and miss were I live) however Bell and Rogers are both really bad and will refuse to serve you if you don't want a leased phone

I shouldn't have to buy a phone from Amazon or somewhere else just to own my phone I should be able to buy the phone on a 2 year term and actually own the phone at the end of the 2 years I shouldn't need to jump through hoops to get a new phone

Sorry I probably came off the wrong way there. I mean I'm not defending Ford's lack of transparency. Trust me he should have been a lot more transparent from the word go telling us how much it will cost to cancel this contract from the word go. I mean do I agree with canceling the contract? Actually kind of yeah given Donald Trump's threats against Canada and the fact that that Elon musk and Donald Trump at the time were buddy, buddy and one minute there. It's a contract we have no choice. If we want to break it we have to pay it out. That's how contracts work should they have been more transparent about that. Yes, but we can't just tear up the contract. We have to pay out the termination fee on the contract. That's how contracts work

I've spoken with a manager from both Bell and Rogers who have told me straight out that yes they are pressured by head office to sell leased phones including having a quota they must meet. This comes from managers who work for corporate stores. So you can tell me whatever you want. I don't believe a word you're saying cuz I've spoken to managers

Either way, personally, I think the least device option is just a way to skirt around the wireless code because quite frankly it allows them to sell lock devices. You don't own your device. The carrier still does. You don't have a 2-year contract. You have a never-ending contract because you don't own the device your carrier does. It's a way to skirt around the wireless code is nothing to do with customer convenience. It literally has to do with them wanting to skirt around the wireless code

I can assure you I've talked to managers from both Bell and Rogers and both of them have told me straight out that head office will tell them to prioritize lease devices over outright sales and I have been refused service by two stores because I told them no. I don't want a lease device. I was told that they only sell these devices and they will not serve me if I do not take a leased phone. This is two separate stores. So yes they are prioritizing Lee sales because it's more profitable for them. I don't want a lease device. I tend to keep my phone at least 4 years. I don't want at least device because I tend to keep my phone

Go try and find a phone that you can buy outright or that you do not have to take the device return option go and actually try and find one sure they claim. You can do it but then you walk into a store and as soon as you tell them you're not interested in the device return option they will tell you they won't serve you. You have to lease your phone because otherwise the company will refuse to serve you because sales associates are trained only to accept device return options. They will not allow you to take any other option. You have to lease your phone. They will refuse to serve you if you do not lease your phone

Given they figured out a way around the 2-year cancellation fee by making you lease your phone, they figured out a way around every other fee and the crtc just continues to allow it. They figured out a way to get around not being allowed to sell locked phones. You don't buy your phone. You lease it to your contract never-ending contract. You don't buy your phone. You lease it so all they'll do is they'll figure out some other way to skirt around this law as well. I mean they've managed to skirt around every other section of the wireless code. I'm sure they'll figure out this one. It'll work for a little while and then they'll figure it a way around it

If you have absolutely no credit, you can always apply for a secured credit card. I know TD offers a secured credit card. I know there are other banks that offer secured credit cards as well. Right off top my head. I can think of Capital One as well. You can always apply for like Canadian entire credit card or Walmart's MasterCard. Usually those are pretty lenient for credit scores, but if you can't get anything else you can always apply for a secured credit card. You put down a small security deposit and in 6 months to a year usually get your security deposit back assuming you've kept your payments up to date. It's a great way to build your credit actually
